Raising Foundations Stat Chart (Compare and add)

#39627 Posted on 2016-05-20 12:43:27

hello! Kahzie made a post about raising foundies and I made a google docs spreadsheet where people can enter their foundations' information.

Foundation horse stat chart

You can compare your foundations to the graph (average stat gain of 41 stats/year).

AND/OR you can enter your foundies in as well in the spreadsheet, and I will (or you can, if you understand Excel) edit the information included in the graphs so that we have a wider pool.

For those of you who don't understand Excel (which I didn't until last year), an R squared value is how closely the best fit line fits the data. So right now, ours is 0.77. The highest is one. I guess in terms of EV (and please correct me if Im wrong), this value indicates how well the average gain of stats can be applied to horses in general.

I made a graph of stats per week vs conf just because my higher conf horses seemed to be doing better in shows, but I guess this shows there is no correlation.

Are you including foundations which were cared for and not locked, during the "stat crisis" period we had when training was down?

Just curious.

Aglet, good point! I definitely do encourage critique on this, as that will make this more accurate.

The horses that I have contributed were all started after training was implemented. I cannot say for others. However, as people (if) add their horses, the effect of the horses added that were not locked during the stat crisis will lessen.

Someone brought it up on the other thread and mentioned that for now, and for the sake of comparison, the addition of training may not matter since there haven't been too many stat boosts.

Well, I was going to add in my foundations, but they are all from before the new EV. I was almost done when I found out. So now I still got nothing to compare them with..

Megan, sorry!! I know some people do have locked herds from then, however most horses from this point forward will be from this version. I know someone had a chart on the old EV, but I am not sure who it was :/ maybe they will see this

My youngest are at the age of 10, but I have been locked for about a month, normally most of them would have retired by now.

I added quite a few horses to this chart. None of mine were locked during the "stat crisis." I think they did pretty well despite not having training for a while in there.

I've decided, due to my own curiosity being stimulate by this topic to run my own experiments to catalogue stat gain.

My thoughts were to test:
1. Stat gain when horses are treated, trained, and competed daily equipped with 5/5 tack
2. Stat gain with horses are treated, trained, and competed daily equipped with 5/5 saddle and bridle, but 1/5 tail guard and splint boots.
3. Stat gain when horses are treated, trained, and competed daily while equipped with 2/5 tack.
4. Stat gain with horses treated and trained daily, but not competed.
5. Stat gain for horses that are treated daily, but never competed or trained.
6. Stat gain for horses that are trained daily, but never competed or treated.
7. Stat gain for horses that are competed daily, but never trained or treated.
8. Stat gain for horses that are competed and trained daily, but not treated.
9. Stat gain when horses are treated, trained, and competed daily equipped with 5/5 tack AND using the auto showing tool.

*all except 9 will be on my spare account, and therefore will be hand entered into shows. as that account has no auto showing tool on it.

Each of the tests will have 5 horse, except the first one which will have 15 horses total. I've put them on my spare account here. I'll try to record data once a week to share with everyone. If there is any combination I didn't think of that you'd prefer I do let me know, I might at it into my extensive experiment.

I would LOVE to see the different in horses competed in auto show vs. entered by hand if anyone is up to that challenge!

atomic i could add that into my research fairly easily, i'll go ahead and do that.

PS this is Aglet on my spare account :)

i just added by 12 and managed to reduce the R squared value by .07, so...sorry about that! D:

kahzie! lol....did the chart update by itself? on excel, you can drag the area down and the chart will update automatically, but I couldn't figure out how to do that on google docs :(

JK I figured it out. kinda. at least enough to update quickly.

also now with the riding school, that may change things a bit too.
