World At Its Worst (Roleplay)

It has been only about one whole year when a fatal disease completely wiped out 99.8% of the world's human population. There hasn't been a single explanation as to how its happened, or where it even came from. There was hardly enough time to even figure out what it was, for everyone not immune came down with the deadly fever within a single week.
It's hard enough to get through the grief of loved ones dying, exploring dead cities, and fending off those who have lost their mind during the chaos, but what if things could become even harder?
The disease didn't only affect the humans. They're angry, desperate for the revenge they deserve. Seeing the humans clinging onto themselves set something off in them, it made them more intelligent. They feel as if human life has set them back, suppressed them from what they could have been. Life on earth, plants and animals alike, are taking back what was theirs in the first place.

Summary:
Basically, if you didn't get it from above, you are a human in the deserted world. It's been a year since then, supplies in stores are still good, and siphoning gas from cars is the easy part. For that one year, they only thing you had to worry about were other people, but the disease has taken over the minds of nature itself. Can you survive mother nature?

Derik, along with his sister, Irene, walked down an empty street littered with abandoned cars, just coming off a highway. "I told you, we should have just pushed our car." He sighed, shifting his rifle in his hand. His thick combat boots crunched against some broken glass on the street from the smashed display glass of looted stores. He winced when he caught sight of a decomposed body in a car they passed by, slumped in the drivers seat. He approached a grocery store, looking over his shoulder cautiously.

Irene rolled her eyes at her brother in annoyance. "Why would we push that stupid car if we can literally snatch one like this?" She gestured to the car they passed by, dragging her trusty bat from behind her. She stepped through the smashed in doors of the store after her brother, and tapped her foot. "I'm starting to get sick of all this junk food left." She grumbled, and stomped along to the canned food aisle, disappointed to see it mostly picked out. "We're late!"

Jan

Jan slipped silently out of an abandoned convenience store, his backpack getting heavier by the minute. He had been searching through this small town, finding medicine, packaged and canned food, plastic water bottles, and other things like flashlights, matches, and batteries. When he spotted a promising grocery store down the street, and looked around for signs of people, then quietly sprinted to the opening but came to a halt when he heard an angry girl's voice.

Mikaila

Mikaila drove down a highway littered with trash. She saw an exit, and turned, following signs that said, "Welcome to Redcliffe! Enjoy your visit!" or, "We hope you find nothing but hospitality in our humble town!" Mikaila laughed at the irony. She passed a street filled with deserted businesses, and swore she saw movement, but thought it was just her eyes playing tricks on her. She parked in a tiny neighborhood with two-story houses fit for families. Mikaila walked down to the street, donning her beat-up backpack, and handgun.

Alex

Alex rustled around from her normal nap as she woke up. same dream. no change, all the same each time. Her brother and mother being killed off by all of the apocalyptic dying people. Pried away from each other's hands. Though she had been in jail when it happened. From behind bars she watched all of it. Though she never knew were her brother went or if he were still alive. It could be a possibility that they were both alive. But she didn't like to count on that. She often had trouble sleeping because of the dream. She outstretched her arms as she gave a yawn. A ray of sunlight through an abandoned motel gave her a place for food and privacy, and from the 3 floor out the window she could see everything that was going on in the small town of Redcliffe.

Carson


Carson passed back and forth as he peeked out from an old abandoned car. He could see two men in the distance talking to one another. He had to be careful about what he did, and try not to get himself killed. He grasped his dagger ready for whatever might happen. He slowly started to move away from the people as he sprinted almost crouched down behind a building. He gave a deep breath as he waited.

Levi/Aviana

The old sand hued hummer gurgled as it made its way down the old highway, twisting and turning like a snake around abandoned vehicles. Levi peeked his head through the gunners hole in the rear of the vehicle, scanning the area with the scope of his rifle. A soft grunt escaped him as he caught movement near a convenience store that was just off the parkway. Aviana turned and looked at her brother What is it? she asked in a whisper. Survivors, pull over. he returned gruffly following the two people with his scope.
Aviana did as her brother told her, pulling over behind a bus on its side. Levi jumped out of the vehicle and his sister followed him, her carbine in hand as she watched his back. Aviana leaned against the bus and turned slightly towards Levi How many are there? she asked softly. Not many, 3 so far. Let's get in the hummer and roll closer they might be friendlies. Aviana's eyes widened slightly, her brother was usually wary of other people to the point where they had gone off road just to keep out of sight. Maybe it was the fact that the only company they had for the past few months were each other, Could he be growing bored of her company? it was a possibility but as long as they had each other, the hummer and the endless MRE's they had stashed from the base they would live.
She followed him around the bus back towards the hummer quickly, the excitement of meeting new people had her charged. She hopped into the drivers seat and hardly left Levi a second to get into the gunners seat before taking off. Easy there killer. he called from the back. We still have to be cautious 'Ana. she rolled her eyes and kept steady on the accelerator, taking the exit that was closest to the small town.

Juliette opened her eyes and stretched. She sat up quick, tightening the grip on her bow. "Just another dream." Juliette whispered. She looked in the broken glass of the window of the car she had been sleeping in and fixed her hair so that it completely covered her right eye. Juliette grabbed her backpack full of the remaining food, water, clothes, and medicine she had and slung it over her shoulder. She gathered her bow and sheath of arrows again, then gripped the handle of the car's door. "Wish I could drive," Juliette bitterly muttered. She put pressure on the handle and opened the door slowly while looking around cautiously. Juli took a small step out, then fully exposed herself. "If you want to kill me, here I am," she thought. Juliette quickly ran for the shadows. She was headed for the convenience store, and if there was no food, she would scavenge. Juli made a dash into the sunlight, then reached the safety of the shadows again. Wait, what was that? She looked around the corner and saw three people near the store. Juliette took a breath, then looked away. "Stay...quiet..." she thought as she backed away.

"Please, you are being dramatic." Derik said in his soft soothing voice, following his sister into the aisle, paying no notice to the possible intruders. He eyed the aisles, and grabbed a few cans to stuff in his bag. "Corn, beans, cream of mushroom..." He narrowed his eyes on the other cans. "Ooh, a rare treat, Mandarin oranges." He waved the can at her with a victorious grin on his face, playing his usual older brotherly role. "See, we have plenty, just chill."

"Chill? The rest of this stuff is wet dog food." Irene huffed, but began picking up the last few cans of food that weren't for animals. She shoved them in Derik's bag, and froze. She narrowed her eyes, and stared blankly at an empty shelf, listening carefully. "I thought I heard something." She whispered suddenly, and pulled her gun out of her belt. She glared at Derik when she caught his eyes roll out of irritation. She turned off the safety, and readied her deadly bat as she headed to the front of the store.

She head voices. Keeden finally heard them. The ferret wound around in her long locks getting comfy. She tall being sat up, peeking over the counter of the instore Mc Donald's. Her brother, Henry, scavenged the place, getting anything useable, and stuffed in in the duffel. "Be quiet and follow me." She told him, as she sling the bag over a shoulder. Clutching her hand gun, they quickly skirted to the other side of the store, ammo. Henry broke the glass enclosing the guns, sending off a blaring alarm. He snatched up as much ammo as possible, while Keeden grabbed a handful of knives. The two tucked them away, and carefully picked through the store, to the canned food.

Levi/Aviana

Aviana stayed at a constant 20 mph as she followed the exit ramp her brain flowing with excitement and a little twinge of fear. She didn't know those people and they could potentially be dangerous. It would be nice to talk to someone other than Levi , she thought to herself quietly. It wasn't that she disliked her older brother, ever since he joined the marines he was different. He was quiet, strict and way too serious. A small frown came to her face as she realized just how much she missed the way they used to talk so freely with each other.
Stop. Levi called to her as they entered the parking lot of the small strip mall. He scanned the area using his scope, looking for people and road hazards at the same time. There are more. he said slinking slightly into the gunners seat.
How many? she whispered.
After a long pause Levi took a deep breath, At least six, maybe more.
Aviana slunk into the drivers seat, the last time they had tried making contact with people it had gone all wrong and they had to make a hasty escape to say the least. She closed her eyes remembering how Levi yelled at her to go off-road with the old hummer, it was not the best ride ever and it was made worse with the sounds of bullets ricocheting off the back of the vehicle. Her hands tightened around the wheel, her knuckles went white as she waited for something to happen.

Alex:

Alex took a deep breath as she looked around the room. It was time for her to get on the move. Wearing nothing but a jail jumpsuit and a gun in her hand she left the vacant motel making sure every move she made was quiet. She pointed her gun out as she looked around for anything moving. Once it was clear she let out a gunshot in the air signifying that she was out. She wanted a bit of trouble today. She shot another bullet letting it plunge up into the air like a rocket. She looked around for any sign of human life form.

Juliette heard the safety of a gun go off. Fear gripped at her mind, telling her it was the end. Juli snapped out of it and closed her eyes, thinking of a plan. With her eyes still closed, Juliette loaded an arrow. There was no way an arrow could kill faster than a bullet, but she had to try. Juli opened her eyes and brought the string of the bow to the bottom of her chin and bent her right arm a little bit. She took a deep breath, then prepared herself to meet her foes. "1...2..." the sound of a gunshot rang out in the air. It wasn't Juliette's enemy, but a third party. "Forget it," Juli thought as she slipped back into the dark shadows of the convenience store's wall. "Let the enemy come to me." Juliette kept her bow posed for a kill, while waiting for her impending fate.

Derik straightened up at the sound of gunshots nearby, and quickly began packing everything in sight, even the dog food. He scrambled to the front counter to grab snack bars, and chips that were most likely stale, and expired. "Irene, we need to move on. We have company, and it doesn't sound good." He was completely oblivious to any other company they may have.

Irene, on the other hand, was on a hunt. She tucked the handle of her bat into her belt, and pulled out her second pistol, turning off that safety as well. She continued moving down the aisles with her dual wields, looking annoyed. "You think I care about them? First come, first serve. I hope they enjoy eating bullets if they think otherwise." She snapped, and stopped when she spotted a shadow in a corner. "You have got to be kidding me." She swung her guns toward the figure, her fingers twitching on the trigger, itching to pull the trigger. "You! Come out!" She growled, causing Derik to duck behind the counter, pulling out his rifle.

Juliette stood her ground, thinking again. She heard another gun safety go off, and then a male's voice. If he had a weapon, Juliette was dead. She sighed, realizing her chances of survival were low. Juliette stepped warily out of the shadows, and released her aim on her bow. "Here I am. I know you want to kill me, so the bow and arrows are yours, and whatever is left in the backpack is too." Juliette slid the backpack off her shoulder and let it drop to the floor. "I know if you don't kill me, your friend will," Juliette gestured towards the counter. "Get it over with." Juli looked into the eyes of her enemy, allowing no emotion to show.

Alex

alex smirked as she walked down the path hearing the gun go off. " looks like some one has heard my call" she snickered as she stood by a near by building. She peeked to the corner when she realized it was someone she knew. She frowned as she saw Derick. She lowered her weapon as she held it by her side. She walked out peacefully to them almost into a jog. "Derick" she said in a loud voice as she looked to him with a confused face.

Juliette noticed the other girl, who seemed to know Derik. The girl kept approaching, first in a walk, then a jog. Juliette hoped her enemy wasn't paying attention, then reached down and grabbed her backpack, bow, and sheath of arrows. Without hesitation, Juliette broke into a fast run, not even looking back. She didn't stop running until she reached the car she had been staying in. Juliette opened the door and climbed into the passenger's seat, where she sat panting. Juli pulled out a map from her backpack and crossed out the convenience store. "Not going there again." Juliette said to herself.
