Fierce. Strong. Independent.

The Feroce Herd - Unique in more ways than one. Not only are they more advanced than any other herd around, they have learned how to manipulate human complexes for their own use. This herd lives on an abandoned ranch, complete with a huge barn that is in surprisingly good condition, and multiple pastures for various uses.

Traditions of the Herd:
- Males dominate the herd. That is how it has always been and how it will always be. They are stronger than the mares and are the protectors of the herd. Females are kept around for passing on bloodlines and supplying strong colts and healthy fillies.
- Foals live with their fathers until they are two years old, after which they are matured and become full members of the herd. Mothers raise their young until it is time for her to be returned to the auctions. The foal could be anywhere from newborn to one year when she must leave. Some stallions will bring the foal to visit his or her mother.
- Stallions who claim a mare are responsible for ensuring that she is fed and watered, as well as provided with a warm place to sleep.
- Rebellious mares are to be punished by their stallions as the stallion sees fit. Death is not encouraged.
- No stallion may touch a mare he does not own.
- A stallion owns his mare for two years, after which she will return to the barn to be recycled through the auctions. He may only breed her during the first year, so that when she returns to the auctions she is not expecting.

The Auctions:
Come one, come all, to see the loveliest selection of mares yet! Inside a long red barn are two rows of stalls lining either side full of young and beautiful mares that could produce healthy and strong colts for one lucky stallion. The auctions occur once every couple years during the first few days of spring. For about a week, stallions have the opportunity to interact and mingle with the mares and decide which ones they wish to fight for to reserve the rights to breed and interact with for the upcoming years. Each stallion may claim only one mare. If there are more mares than there are stallions, certain stallions may be able to possess two.

After that week of viewing, an auction will be held. The name is misleading, however, as the stallions have no items of worthy auction off. Instead, the Lead Stallion will call out the name of a mare and any stallion who wishes to claim her will step forward. If more than one stallion steps forward, a fight will ensue to determine who wins. The fight goes on until one stallions submits or dies.

After a stallion claims his mare, he is free to do with her what he wishes. Each stallion has his own assigned pasture where he will keep his mare. Some stallions are kind and will allow their mates to roam freely, while others prefer to keep them locked up in the pastures and cause them harm. The Lead Stallion can do nothing to prevent a stallion from harming a mare who is rightfully his, as that would be straying against tradition, which is deeply frowned upon.

Barn Stalls: They contain a large space for a single mare. She can turn around and move a few paces. These are metal stalls and they cannot be damaged/broken/dented/destroyed in any way, no exceptions. There is a feed bucket hanging from the stall door where a stallion can easily fill it without having to go inside, and a water trough near the front.

Pastures: Each pasture contains a shed which has two stalls and a water trough. Food is provided through grazing. These pastures are kept up with strong, thick wood fences that cannot be jumped/damaged/broken/et cetera no matter what, no exceptions. There is a single small gate on one side used for entry and exit.

The ranch has turned into a sort of pasture since it has not been maintained by humans for years. Around the ranch is a thick forest full of many different types of trees. The whole setting is in a deep valley surrounded by mountains.

Ranks:

Lead Stallion: The stallion who is ultimately in charge of the herd. His word is law unless it interferes with tradition. He gets first claim of the mare of his choice during the auctions and does not have to fight for her. (Yours Truly!)

Lead Mare: The mare selected by the Lead Stallion to be his mate. She has only as much power as he gives her, which can range from being equivalent to a brood mare or ranking above even the Beta Stallion. (Do Not Sign Up As)

Beta Stallion: The lead stallion's subordinate who is mainly responsible with keeping arguments settle. He gets to claim his mare after the lead stallion and does not have to fight for her. (Audition for)

Beta Mare: The mare selected by the Beta Stallion to be his mate. She has only as much power as he gives her, which can range from being equivalent to a broodmare or ranking above every other stallion aside from the lead. (Do Not Sign Up As)

Bachelors: Every other stallion in the herd who has the chance to claim any eligible mare during the auctions. Is also responsible for protecting and defending the herd from enemies. (Unlimited)

Broodmares: Mares above the age of two who are in the herd to provide heirs and expand its numbers. (Same number as stallions or greater number)

Foals: Horses below the age of two years who are not yet old enough to be enter into the auctions. If you wish to play a foal, the foals father must be alive. You may play the foal of your own stallion, or the foal of another providing both parties agree. Foals are generally allowed to wander around however they'd like. If a filly turns two years old and an auction has recently passed, she will be given to a stallion who volunteers to care for her but she may not be bred. (Unlimited)

Winning a Mare: Obviously if I left the fighting up to you guys, there would be more than one instance of arguing over who got which character. For that specific reason, a random generator will be used to determine which stallion gets which mare. In a sign up, a stallion will eventually have to list his favorite three mares. I will then view the desired mares. Say three stallions want Mare X. I will enter the stallions names into a generator. Whoever is picked first wins the mare, and the other two will have to choose new mares to fight for. Say only one stallions wants Mare Y. He will automatically get her since no one else wants her. Any questions?

Rules:
- If you were part of the first version of this plot, you may not use any of the same characters. This is a fresh start, and as such it needs fresh characters. You may, however, play children or descendants of characters from the original plot, only if you played one of the parents.
- Be kind, respectful, polite, and active. Inactivity will result in characters being given away or killed off without warning. It is not my job to send out messages to you if you are not on. It is completely your responsibility to check this roleplay and remain active. If you are going to be inactive for an extended period of time, let me know and your characters will be safe.
- Yes, this is relatively similar to my other roleplay, Only the Strong Survive. That is because this plot was a basis for that one, but as the plot continues they will become far more different from one another.
- Absolutely no graphic breeding or violence. I really don't care to read about chunks of flesh being ripped out or any of that other stuff, so don't include it.
- No images or image links are allowed in a sign up.
- Please do not keep asking when this will start. Whining does not make me want to start it any sooner. We need a lot of characters and a lot active players in order to start.
- No one may play the mate of their own character.
- Literacy is not optional. There is the saying quality over quantity, and I hold true to that. Proper spelling and grammar skills must be used at all times. I understand small mishaps do happen, and I know I'm far from perfect in these areas, but you should be able to write well if you wish to join.
- I have the right to ban any player from participating or signing up if they violate any of my rules.
- I control the plot. Any and all major plot twists must be approved by me prior to starting them, or I will request an edited post.
- Be realistic. Horses here are normal horses. They do not have impossible markings or lightning stripes or whatever else, and they are not perfect. Every character has flaws.
- Even genders must be created.
- Please ask if you have any questions. It will be easier to answer them before the roleplay starts as opposed to having to deal with them later.
- More rules may be added at any given time should I feel the need to input them.

Atlas was born an esteemed colt to an esteemed family. His parents were Onyx and Juliet, previous leaders of the herd. He inherited his mother's spirit and his father's ambition and it was no surprise that he would one day be leader.

When he was two years old he opted out of taking part in the auctions, mostly since there were more stallions than mares, and there were older stallions who deserved a mate more than he did. In fact, this will be the first Atlas will be claiming a mare, since this is the first year in a long while where there are more mares than stallions.

Atlas was made Beta when he was four years old, and eight months later he was moved up to the rank of leader. While he is still new to the rank, he set his hoof down and made sure the herd knew he was not to be challenged or mocked due to his inexperience.

He created a herd over time and she made new friends. When she was three years old, a wildfire separated her from her herd and she came across this herd. They offered her safety and she blindly accepted, not knowing what her future held.

Why would your character be the best choice for this part?
Well, personality wise he thinks deeply about depictions, observing everything from every one concerned point of view. He isn't to irrational, and tries to choose peace over violence, though he isn't afraid to take action when necessary. I think this is some preferred qualities for a Beta. Young he isn't perfect, because he can be more crude than he should, and a little soft when it comes to his daughter, which is something such a tough herd doesn't desire.

The dark pair of eyes scanned the many stalls. As usual, they were full of beautiful mares. But this season, none really caught his eye, save one. The black beauty which was his daughter. He was so proud of he accomplishment of raising such a perfect mare. She was sturdy, and would be good at producing Colts, which her mother sadly handy possessed.
He walking through the aisle, examining each mare closely. Still none hat he just had to have. Sure, they were all pretty, or at least decent. And personality wise they were probably mostly all great. But no mare sparked his attention.
He shrugged it off, turning Adrienne left the long barn, walking outside into the enjoyable, warm breeze. Finding a good grazing sport, be began munching in the soft blades of green grass, letting all he worry and anxiety fade from his mind.

I really want beta because my specialities are to eat her make an evil and or insane horse, wolf, person etc., or a really strong, buff, stern and strict beta stallion or mare. It is one of my favorite things to do. It also makes me a lot more active.

(Man, how do I say this) I would say my charrie suits this spot because of his personality I guess. I really have no reason, I just think Of am pretty good at playing beta. I like interacting with the alpha a lot.

Serk walked along the border of his herd and the outside world. He had a straight face, and he knew if he made one mistake, he would be rid of his rank Beta. He shook the thought out of his head. He needed to respect the code of the caged mares.

Serk woke up and yawned. It was spring and mating season had arrived again. He smiled as he stretched. Serk walked out of his pasture and looked around. There was dew on the morning flowers. He smiled as he sniffed one. They were so delicate, and they only sprouted in the morning. Never during the day. Serk walked out of his pasture and into the main camp where the stables were set for the mares. He smiled. He had learned to cope with them like this. He walked to his Leader and made a submissive face. His leader smiled back at him. "I appreciate your submission, but a beta knows he does not have to do that. I trust you well enough. You aren't a new beta, Serk. Now, you know what is expected from you. We will announce the ceremony once everyone has awoken and meets the horses." he said with a chuckle. Serk stood up straight. "Yes sir, I know what is expected of me. I will gather some horses to check for any recent activity from outside the territory, and we will return before you have started." he stated. His alpha smiled. "You darn right you will!"

Wait so will there be a new lead stallion completely or will Onyx still be the lead or will his colt be lead? I'm just confused as to who it is going to be?

Laney, she said you are allowed to re use characters from the original, so it will be his offspring/decendant most likely, if it is at all related to him.

Coat Color: He is a solid black horse with a snip and a coronet on his front hoof with ermine sports. He has a very long mane and tail, his forelock covers his eyes. he is a big boned horse, standing at 17 hands, signalling Freisian ancestors.

History: He was originally from a herd where violence was normal. He escaped, and although he tries to hide it, he often lashes out and acts like his former herd members.
Family: His parents were from a different herd, but his father was cruel to him and his mother. He has blocked both his parents from his memory.
