Your ways to sort? |

I'm going through all my horses to redo the divisions. I want them to be in alphabetical order by breed, all mares first then stallions.
i.e
Akhal teke mares
Andy Mares
Appy mares
etc.
But I want to know how you all sort your horses before I buy 30 more divisions :3

I'm a big fan of just buying an obscene number of divisions and intensly sorting them. Very helpful when you have 400+ horses all of the same breed.
I use varying numbers of " ` " and "~" at the start of divisions to send divisions to the top/bottom of the list respectively.
I have 1 division each for stallions and mares that I'm not planning on breeding (and therefore am not treating or doing arena training with) that I have right at the bottom of my divisons list.
When I was pairing up foals, I had divisions for
1. unpaired foundation foals (rare genes)
2. unpaired foundation foals (boring genes)
3. unpaired foals that I had bred (rare genes)
4. unpaired foals that I had bred (boring genes)
5. unpaired foals that I had bought
6. paired foals that were the exact same age
7. paired foals that were different ages
Psychotic, I know! But it ended up making things much less overwhelming. Have as many divisions as you need to organise your horses. That said, autocare is easier with fewer divsions.

My gosh, just... how?? I went with 25 divisions and just throw mares and stallions together, but because of their different brands they are still sorted how I like 'em. And I just realized the auto-care thing... it was easier with 10 divisions xD

I try to keep divisions number low as much as I can.
00 | retired.
- Ordered by Age Descending (3 2 1)
- Once horses reached 21 yrs old, I moved them up to the retired division. I technically can keep them in the showing division but I want an accurate count of active showing horses, not including the retired horses.
01 | showing.
- Ordered by Age Descending (3 2 1)
- This is where I keep all of my active showing horses. I choose to order them by Age Descending so I can easily keep an eye on the oldest ones as they approach the breeding age.
- The way I currently do my herd is to alternate between clydesdale and vanner foundation pairs as I add them to my showing pen. That's why you will see the list appear like this:
-- CLYDESDALE
-- CLYDESDALE
-- VANNER
-- VANNER
-- CLYDESDALE
-- CLYDESDALE
02 | foals - active.
- Ordered by Age Descending (3 2 1)
- I use this division to age up my foals to 3 yrs old in batches. Once they aged up, they will be moved to the second generation - locked division.
02 | foals - locked.
- Ordered by Name Ascending (a b c)
- I keep them ordered by Name Ascending so I can find the foal I am looking for quickly by their name.
- This is where I keep all foals locked. As soon as the foal is born, I move them to this division and keep them locked until I am ready to move them to the division above.
03 | second generation - locked.
- Ordered by Breed Ascending (a b c)
- I keep them divided by breed. Clydesdales will be grouped together at the top and the Vanners will be grouped together at the bottom.
- This is where I keep all the second generations 3 yrs olds until I am ready to pair them and move them to the Showing division.
04 | clydesdales - paired.
- Ordered by Name Ascending (a b c)
- All paired foundations will be moved to this division. They will be remains locked until I am ready to move a pair to the Showing Pen.
04 | vanners - paired.
- Ordered by Name Ascending (a b c)
- All paired foundations will be moved to this division. They will be remains locked until I am ready to move 2 horses to the Showing Pen.
05 | clydesdales - singles.
- Ordered by Name Ascending (a b c)
- All unpaired foundations will remain here until paired or culled.
05 | vanners - singles.
- Ordered by Name Ascending (a b c)
- All unpaired foundations will remain here until paired or culled.
06 | cull.
- Ordered by Breed Ascending (a b c)
- I use this division as the first stop when I purchase foundations. If they meet my criteria, they will be moved to the singles divisions. If they don't meet my criteria, they will be put up for sale.
Basically, I treat my divisions as "stages" of their life.
FOUNDATION'S STAGES
1st Stage: Cull Division
2nd Stage: Singles Divison
3rd Stage: Paired Divison
4th Stage: Showing Divison
5th Stage: Retired Divison
SECOND GENERATION'S STAGES
1st Stage: Foals - Locked
2nd Stage: Foals - Active
3rd Stage: Second Generation
4th Stage: Showing Divison
5th Stage: Retired Divison
