My sister's new foal!

#24038 Posted on 2016-03-27 21:44:09

My sister got an awesome Easter surprise this morning! Her paint mare just gave birth to her half fresian baby! And it's a grulla mare!!

I'm so sad and jealous cause she lives on the other side of the country and I can't snuggle it! Apparently she's super friendly and already let's my sister's 1 1/2 year old pet her. :) Which is super cute cause the filly is going to be his horse when they both grow up!

Their first meeting.. they were both not sure what to make of each other at first. Kellen apparently went and started petting Chica's (momma horse) belly and staring at the filly in confusion right after this photo was taken. My sister was laughing so hard. xD

The funny part is I LOVE the color and am super excited for it but my sis was hoping for a buckskin paint so she's kind of meh about the color right now. She's gonna be super cool when she grows up though!

Will it still turn grey like the mare? Or not?

haha, the boy is like "where did this little horse come from?" that's so funny!!

A horse I used to ride was bred by the owner, and she was a bay blanket Appy. guess what the owner wanted? a bay blanket Appy! From a leopard Appy and a dark bay TB, no less! Crazy! ON the topic of horse moms hoping for a certain color. lol

Megansparrow - Hopefully not! She's Gg so there's a chance. :) They're testing the filly asap so they don't have to wonder though. Lol

Gaia - Thanks!!

Mardi gras - It's also funny because they have a miniature donkey and mini horse so my sis just assumed that he would assume that the filly was the same thing they are... But no he's totally suspicious about what she is! :)

She's adorableeeeee. And even if she's not the coloring your sister wanted, she's definitely a desired color if it ever came to having to sell her.

Sheer curiosity, why was she hoping for a buckskin pinto? Clearly I cannot know what momma once was, but if she's half Friesian wouldn't the sire have had to be black? Just trying to figure out the color wants.

I mean my one want for a Friesian cross is nearly impossible to have a good amount of Friesian ... Red Roan xD

Momma horse is a dunskin tobiano under the grey. :) Ee Aa Crcr Dd Gg TOto. Her last foal was a buckskin tobiano so she was hoping for the same. They would only sell the filly if she somehow didn't get big enough for Kellen but it seems unlikely.

You could get a red roan fresian cross but it would take some super heavy planning! Lol

There are chestnut Friesians, they just aren't allowed in the studbook... doesn't make it illegal to breed them; they're just not "acceptable". Not like a grade horse can get into a breed registry anyway. So find a chestnut Friesian and a red roan. Boom.

Vos - The mass majority of Friesians and Friesian crosses in my area are all black/bay based, so would take a lot of strategic planning and money. Lol Plus I've come to realize tall horses aren't for me, so really my dreams of a Friesian cross have drastically died. XD
