Rulers of the Savanna pt. 2 RP

"Alina is a strong lioness, and I'm sure Kito is a strong lion." he spoke optimistically, quietly sliding over to her and nuzzling her dearly. Sengo brushed her head smoothly with his paws, brushing down the few hairs sticking up here and there. "Areli, this might be a strange request but...if we have a female cub, could we name her Dolldi? If not I understand." he asked sweetly, feeling a little obligated to name a cub partially after Dollu.

"I suppose so. It doesn't matter to me. I tried to name my cubs after their father, who was strong, but sadly, Aja wasn't strong enough." Areli sighed, going into her den, and falling asleep fast after such a long day.

Kito and Aziza arrived at the edge of the Desert, sand for as far as the eye could see, but in the far distance, one could see a very thin line of green, about 50 miles out give or take a few, and the feeling grew stronger when he concentrated on that green line. He decided the fastest way to the green line was going straight across the desert, but could smell a strong male nearby, and decided to go the long ways around. "That way." He turned to the right and followed the high mountain peaks. It was a good thing too, for the only water in the middle of the desert was the oasis, and there was lots of water; besides gazelle and caves in the mountains.

Alina lifted her head up, looking at Star as she laid beside him in their den. "Star, I think we should move.." she spoke in a quiet tone. The cubs had changed everything for Alina, she was having second thoughts.

Star raised his head, "What?" He asked, "Why?'' Star nuzzled her, "Do you not like it here?" Star really didn't want to leave.

"I like it here, it's just...I don't think it would be the right place to raise our cubs." she sighed while standing up and looking out the den. Her mind was elsewhere, she ignored his affections, keeping her eyes on the view outside of the den

Star gazed at her, confused. "Why not? We have the perfect den," He replied, "and both of our family is here." Star didn't want to leave, for his parent's graves were here, and his siblings.

"The buffalo here, I do not trust them. I can not let them hurt my babies." she replied in a more frustrated tone, turning her head and looking at him. Alina thought her reasons for leaving were right, but it didn't mean they were.

The buffalo snorted, still quite agitated, but Cali, and Valido were determined to take one down. They knew that it was against the law to hunt the strongest members, but that Dagger bull was making the Savanna Water Buffalo herd very agitated, and forcing Bulldozer to fight day after day; determined to wear him down and take over his herd. They thought deeply, looked at each other, and nodded. Instead of eyeing Dagger, they eyed his favorite cow, who kept the herd together, and decided to go after her calf. The calf was strong, but was still young, and was considered free to hunt for all predators. The two lions closed in on their quarry, while his father Dagger was once more fighting with Bulldozer, and beginning to weaken him when the herd mooed in anger. The herd began to run, roaring was heard, and Dagger was forced to retreat to drive Valido off. Bulldozer spied Cali watching the herd as it raced towards her, nodded to her, and took this opportunity to take his own herd further into the Savanna; away from Dagger, closer towards the Great Rock, and less chance of Dagger daring to come after him. Dagger managed to chase Valido off, when his favorite cow bawled, and the calf cried out in pain. He whirled around to see Cali beginning to drag the calf off, charged, she bolted, he stood over the calf snorting, and then noticed that Bulldozer had left with his own herd. His desire to fight was struggling with his desire to protect his herd and everyone could tell that he was struggling. The herd came up, surrounded the calf, leaving him free to chase after Bulldozer, but Valido refused to let him go after the Savanna Water Buffalo leader, and pounced on his back. Dagger bellowed in rage, bucking, and Cali realized the only way they could get rid of his herd was to kill him. Though the law clearly stated otherwise, she remembered that the law also said that if an animal was causing trouble and putting everyone in danger; they were allowed to dispose of the animal. Since Dagger was a danger to them all, they were allowed to hunt him, so she jumped onto his side, locked her claws into position tightly, and reached for his jugular vein with a wide open mouth. The rest of the herd tried to charge, but got slowed down by the swampy land, and anyway, it was too late. A combination of Cali and Valido's weight, forced Dagger down, even though he struggled, trying to bellow his rage, Cali had a tight hold on his windpipe, and jugular vein while Valido had him pinned down. The herd stopped, realizing their leader was done for, tried to run, but Bulldozer and his herd raced from the west, cutting off their escape, and forcing them to join in. Dagger was dead. Valido and Cali roared with glee at their successful hunt and immediately began to drag the carcass away. "Wait, what about the calf? It's badly injured." Valido looked and saw that it wasn't necessary; for Bulldozer was snorting, glaring at Dagger's calves, while their mothers held them close to their sides. "Don't worry. You know the way of animals. When a new lion takes over, he kills the former lions cubs, but not for us. However, it is the same way with any new leader of any herd. Bulldozer will destroy Dagger's calves and we will eat well for several weeks." Cali told him and they left with Dagger's carcass to eat in peace.

Star gazed at her, "Babe," he told her, "that'll blow over quick." He cocked his head. "What if we leave, and we don't ever find a place we like??"

"The safest place for the cubs will be the perfect place!" she snapped, her tone beginning to sound angry. Alina swished her tail, getting ready to slap him if necessary. "You do not know if it'll stop!!" she practically yelled, her fur standing up slightly.

Cali and Valido stripped off a large piece of the carcass, wrote with blood on the rock it was laid upon "Dagger is dead. The threat is over", and left it just outside of Alina's and Star's den. Cali and Valido decided to do that because when they were passing by their den, they could hear the two arguing, and wanted to help the parents-to-be to relax. Then, Cali and Valido dragged the carcass further away, and settled down about 2 miles away to gorge themselves.

Star smelt blood, and stood. He passed out side, and called for Alina. "Look," he told her, "there. Here is perfect."

Alina shook her head angrily, running away from him and towards the forest. The sound of her heart racing blurred out the constant sharp pains in her stomach. She landed in a forest area, appearing to be deserted. I thrust myself against a stump, resting my head on it and closing my eyes. I knew he would have a hard time finding me in the forest, since the trees covered the ground.

"Alina!!" Star roared. He had becomes saddened by her sudden act, and flung himself at their furs, and sobbed his heart out.
