Table of Training Foals

#220028 Posted on 2020-04-02 12:24:33

It would be nice to have a table/list that shows us which training we've already done with our foals. With foals that are different ages and at different stages in training, it's almost impossible to remember which one needs which training continuously for 3 weeks.

I just start at the top of the list and work my way down for each day :) for the two year old training I do the top one twice since its easiest :)

Right, but if one foal is born on a Tuesday and another is born on Thursday, keeping track that this one is one weaning and that one is on commands today, but this one is on handling and that one is on play time tomorrow, is a lot to keep track of when having a simply table or list that shows you what you've already trained them in would make things much, much simpler for busy people.

I count the days is what I mean. See if a foal has aging happening in three days, I count three up from the bottom to get there, no table necessary and pretty easy.

So say its a 1 year old horse with the aging happening in three days (which I can see as I scroll to the training section), I open the training thing and count up, see that its ground training and select it and push train :D

....how is counting easier than a table that tells you exactly what you are missing?

I also have no idea what the person that I bought the foal from has done for training when I buy it. I haven’t purchased a single foal with that info recorded. Which means that I’m out of luck for getting the extra points because I don’t know what the seller’s system was. A table (or check marks, or something) would solve that.

How is it any harder though? I mean you got to look for the name of the one on the table that you haven't done?

I do see where your coming from though with buying from another player and until/if a table is installed if its something that really bugs you (meaning you really want to make sure you get those few extra stats) I guess you could always ask the player hey which way do you do this :)

Does anybody even know what the difference of stats is from not hitting all of the different ones? Is it really that big of a deal? I never really paid that much attention (on my main account I do have my own lines) and while I train every day on the foals and do it the way I said I do on the other, I never really tried not doing it that way and seeing if the stats were any different?

I'm just worried that a table would make the page look cluttery since there are so many other things already on horse pages, but what kind of table were you thinking?

Do NOT support

It is easy enough to just assign a training item according to how many days left at that particular age, no need to keep track of anything

Or what about once that foal has been trained in that particular option, it disappears the next day, leaving you with only the to do training options?

This would be similar to what happens when you train your horses normally, once they are trained that option for that horse is no longer there.

I do agree with Ariel's point. Just have them disappear after you train them in that option and only have the ones you need to do left. And I also like the idea of having a list of what you already had trained the foal in. Maybe even like a part where it also shows you how many times you had train them in that particular option?
And the stats gained do depend on what training you do. I do believe Abby, or one of the others did say depending on how you train a foal, you will get more or less stats.

There isn't enough options for amount of days to train the foal if you remove options once used.

There's quite a difference in stats if you don't vary training. I'm not sure the different between just using a single option and varied training but I've easily had 10-20 stat differences from doing 1/2 days the same when I shouldn't have done vs having them all as varied as possible.

Or instead of disappearing after one use, how about they were to disappear maybe after 2 or 3 uses? I do tend to only use them from bottom up twice, if I remember which I use.

I write what they've done in their notes each day. Simples!

Well thankfully they are going to bring this up in the July listening session.
I still don't see how writing notes each day is simpler than a checklist or disappearing options. It's literally three extra steps per foal when it could be zero. And when you have 12+ foals, that adds up considerably.

I don't write an essay or anything, it's literally a one word description, lunge, road, ground etc. Takes maybe a couple of seconds to do.
