Only The Strong Survive

"Everyone sees everything differently. While you see me as good, others see me as bad. Mostly because I was bad," Auberon said with a shrug.

Outlaw 
“No Auberon. You where never bad. But I ain’t gonna stay on this subject anymore cause as much as I tell you it won’t help. You’ll have to figure it out with yourself” she sighed. 

Auberon
Auberon looked at Outlaw. "How have I never been bad?" If I was never bad, why did Dad always act like I was? And why did everyone leave me when I needed them most?

Outlaw 
“If they made you think you where they where only trying to control you or drive you to actually being bad.”

Auberon
"I don't think that answered my question. Oh, and another question, why did my Uncle Dad-whatever- want me to be bad?" Auberon questioned.

Outlaw 
“You’ll have to ask him that” she replied. 

Auberon
"I did. He just shook his head and said I was just like my biological Dad. Actually apparently everyone thinks that..." Auberon mumbled. He remembered when Eudora had freaked out and said he was a lot like their Dad; he was starting to wonder if they were telling the truth.

Outlaw 
“Maybe in what ways he was good yes, but not in the cruel way” she replied firmly. 

Auberon
Auberon sighed. "I don't think my father was good in any way."

Outlaw 
She ran a hand through her hair. This was givin her a headache. “Auberon, you’re not bad. You’re far removed from it. Everyone messes up. Doesn’t mean your bad” she mumbled. 

Auberon
Auberon raised his eyebrows, letting himself chuckle. "Yeah I figured that out. I just wanted to see how convincing you were."

Outlaw 
She scowled at him. “You mean I got a headache just so you could mess with me?” She grumbled. 

Auberon
"Oh, speaking of headaches," he started, letting hkmself heal her headache. "Headaches are a huge sign of lack of sleep."

Outlaw 
“I’m ok. I don’t need to sleep” she grumbled. Best he didn’t know she had been drinking again. 

Auberon
"Yeah okay," Auberon mumbled. "You keep believing that."
He sighed quietly to himself as he thought about what Outlaw had said. He didn't believe her- the truth was that there was only ine person in this world who believed he was good, and now even she hated him. Sure he had Kahlen and Outlaw, but he wondered how much longer it would be before he failed both of them too.
