Only The Strong Survive

Ahanu
He nodded again, still feeling a little awkward, and moved to the hut ladder. Ahanu tossed it down and then quickly went to the forest floor. Stepping off the ladder he shot Charity a thumbs up as he scanned the area for zombies. It seemed to be clear. 

Charity
Charity climbed down and tossed the ladder back up, quickly realizing after she did so that she had forgotten to grab the knife Ahanu had given her. Eh, whatever... she stared at the ladder momentarily before she looked out over the forest.

Ahanu
After familiarizing himself with the forest sounds, Ahanu tentatively weaved his fingers into Charity's. If she got lost or hurt because he left her behind or they somehow got separated, he would never forgive himself. With that taken care of, he set off in the chosen direction.

Charity
Charity followed him, sticking her free hand into her back pocket and studying the ground quietly. It had been a long night for her- she had gotten fairly good sleep, but it had been constantly inturrupted by her waking up.

Ahanu
He kept an ear and an eye out for zombies, but the area seemed to be relatively clear. Outlaw probably scared them all away. The sound of rushing water came to him and he rushed forward, excited. After a bit of jogging, he came across a decently sized stream, or creek, or something. It was water. He turned, ecstatic, to Charity. "I guess the geese were going to the water."

Charity
Charity stared at the water, then looked up at Ahanu and shrugged. "Yeah, geese do that," she mumbled, smiling playfully.

Ahanu
He laughed. "Yeah, I guess they do." Ahanu studied the stream and bent on the bank, letting go of Charity's hand. He scooped some water into his hands and took a small sip, swishing it in his mouth. He spit it back out. "Seems clean enough. I wouldn't drink it without boiling or filtering first, though." He straightened and pulled a small bottle of shampoo and a bar of soap from one of his pockets and handed them to Charity. "You can use these. I'll go sit on the other side of that tree." He indicated which one.

Charity
Charity glanced at the tree, then the soap, mouthing, Auberon would kill me. She looked back up at Ahanu. "Maybe you sould go first?"

Ahanu
He blushed, then nodded. "Y-yeah, sure." 

Charity
"Sorry," Charity murmured, going over and sitting behind the tree. She leaned her head on the trunk, staring up at the tree tops.

Ahanu
He swallowed and rolled his pant legs up so he could step into the water without getting them wet. The water was much colder than he expected and he paused to adjust to it. He had gotten the shampoo back from Charity before she had gone off and had split the soap bar in two. He glanced over at the tree to make sure Charity was still behind it. She was, so he returned his attention to the stream. He set the soaps on the edge of the bank so his hands were free and peeled off the shirt he was wearing. He pinned it in the water with two stones so that it could get cleaned off for once by the current. That done, Ahanu bent at the waist and plunged his head into the cold water. He came back up, wiped his face with his hand, and snagged the shampoo. After squirting some into his hand he lathered it in his hair and then bent again to rinse it out. He ran his hands through his hair under the water several times to make sure he got all the shampoo out before coming up for breath. He squeezed the excess water out. He thought a moment, staring at the water, and then with a stifled sigh sat down. The water rushed over his pants and soaked them within seconds. Oh, well. He splashed his torso with water until it was dripping and grabbed the bar of soap. He scrubbed, then rinsed, and turned to the shirt sitting the water. He needed to wash that now. The laf-bar of soap would have to do, as he didn't have any laundry detergent or anything like that. At least it wouldn't smell like sweat and dirt anymore.

Charity
Charity waited behind the tree, closing her eyes and almost falling asleep against it. She blinked her eyes halfway open, but they quickly closed as a light doze washed over her.

Ahanu
He scrubbed his shirt and then allowed it to rinse off in the stream. He ringed it out, slipped the still soaked shirt over his head, and stepped out of the stream. 

Charity
Charity slipped into a deeper sleep against her will, the warm summer and mezmorizing, singing current making her more drowsy than she should have been.

Ahanu
He picked up the shampoo and pocketed the bar of soap. Ahanu walked to the tree and stepped around it to find Charity asleep. He gently touched her shoulder in an attempt to wake her up. "Hey, I'm done."
