Only The Strong Survive

Charity
Charity blinked open her eyes, squinting them slightly from the light that came into the hut. She rolled over onto her side and closed her eyes again. She was feeling quite muggy and not at all well, which she assumed was probably once again from dehydration.

Ahanu
He went to the makeshift fridge and pulled it open, grabbing a water bottle. As he headed for the entrance of the hut he passed Charity's cot, and set it down there as he passed. He refused to allow himself to look down, not wanting to know if she was awake or not due to the embarrassment if she was. He left the cot and stood by the railing, scanning the woods. There had to be water somewhere, right?

Charity
Charity opened her eyes, looking up at Ahanu, then glancing at the water bottle. She sighed and sat up, grabbing the water bottle and sipping from it tenderly.

Ahanu
He came from that way, no water for sure. Ahanu crossed that direction off his mental map. He could try exploring in... that direction. With a final nod to himself, he stepped into the hut and crossed to his cot. His pistol went into its holster around his hip. The knife he had put under his pillow he picked up and examined. He set it down for the moment as he gave a couple peanuts to the rats to puzzle over while he was gone. Scooping the knife back up, he crossed to Charity's cot. "Good morning." Ahanu smiled slightly, then set the knife on her bed. "Don't go into the woods unarmed. I'm going out for a bit. You can have this." 

Charity
Charity glanced at the knife, then at Auberon. "Can I go with you?" she asked quietly, not averting her gaze from Aub.

Ahanu
"Oh." A blush crept up his neck. "I mean... It's not that I don't want you to - but - uh - I'm sort of..." Ahanu ended up just clumsily nodding. "Yeah, sure, i-I guess so." 

Charity
Charity tilted her head and looked up at him. "I don't have to if you don't want me to."

Ahanu
"No, that's not it at all." He looked at the hut floor to hide his blushing features. "I was just going to look for water and if there was a stream or something get cleaned off," Ahanu managed to mutter.  He hadn't had a chance to stop and properly wash himself in a while. It was one reason why his hair was such a mess. "I don't mind if you come. But just - if we do find water - we can, uh, give each other privacy?" I'm sure she'd like to clean off too. She mentioned not finding water as well.

Charity
Charity had to take another long drink of water to keep herself from laughing. She wasn't exactly expecting that. "Um, I can stay here if you want," she managed.

Ahanu
"No, it's fine. You can come." He swallowed his little remaining pride and glanced up. "Bring the water bottle, though. You need to stay hydrated."

Charity
Charity bit her lip and smiled, not replying for a moment before mumbling, "Fine," and standing up.

Ahanu
He walked out of the hut and paused again at the railing. "Which direction did you come from? I'd like to eliminate what directions water won't be in." 

Charity
Charity pointed in the direction opposite from where the deck was facing. "We could try going where the geese came from."

Ahanu
He nodded, adding that direction to his mind and crossing it off. "They came from about the same direction I did. What if we follow the direction they were going?" He followed their path in the sky with his eyes and then nodded. "Yeah, that might lead us to water. Ready?"

Charity
Charity looked up at the sky and blinked. It was still nice out, but the brightness made her eyes sting slightly. "Yeah," she replied, looking back up at Ahanu and offering a small smile.
