She took a deep breath and closed her eyes a moment. "Eudora," she said, opening her eyes, "I'm serious. What happened to me is not your fault." She shifted and gingerly unzipped her backpack, withdrawing the small square of ambrosia she had put in there "just in case". She bit a little piece off. "First of all, I knew what you were going to do. It was my choice to stay. Second, I wasn't paying enough attention and the water around me evaporated. It wasn't your fault." She shifted again, back to how she had been laying before.

Eudora
Eudora shook her head again. "And Katie? Can you explain that?"

Jade
Katie didn't get out?! "Do you know for sure what happened to her? Or are you guessing?" Jade hid her furiously tumbling thoughts. It rarely happened, but for once Jade blocked off an emotion, hiding her panic so that Eudora didn't see it. Her eyes didn't give her away.

Eudora
"No, she hasn't come back yet if she did. Even if she got out she's probably terribly hurt," Eudora replied wiping her eyes.

Jade
She shook her head. "No, don't tell yourself that. There's always hope." DID KATIE NOT GET OUT?! Jade took a quiet deep breath, forcing her mind to focus on Eudora. She couldn't worry about that - HOW CAN I NOT WORRY ABOUT THAT - until Eudora wasn't blaming herself.

Eudora sighed feeling pain rush through her face as she wiped it. She looked down at herself for the first time since she was at the burning mall and noticed she was burt through and through.

Bobby
He nodded. "Stay safe."

Eudora
Eudora shrugged. "Well at least I don't have to be his wifey anymore." she said with a small smile.

Jade
She laughed. "Yeah, that wouldn't be very much fun. His breath stinks." She grinned. "And Eudora," she said, her tone growing serious again, "I'm sorry I wasn't able to keep you from getting burnt. I tried, but I don't know what happened. I was trying to keep your water together when I blacked out, so yeah, not sure how that happened."

"Oh, that was my fault," she said looking at herself again. "When I saw you fall I kinda wrapped myself in fire to evaporate your water bubble."

Jade
"Oh." She nibbled once more at the ambrosia square. "Did you have any ambrosia?"

Eudora
"Ya a little," she said.

Jade
She nodded. "Okay. What is everyone doing? I'm a bit cut off back here." Without warning, her mind jumped to a totally different topic. Why did Alex leave so quickly? Why did he... do that? What had we been talking about when Noah appeared? For some reason, that was fuzzy. She remembered talking about their promise, and then Noah appeared, and she couldn't quite recall what was said until Noah was running his hand through her hair and she felt some of her pain fade. She forced herself to focus back on the conversation at hand.
