High non discipline stats query

I am thinking of breeding a couple of horses with different disciplines and know that this is the wrong thing to do but am hoping the colour will be good.  It is not possible to convert the training. My question is, Is it possible to breed out the non required high stats or will they remain throughout the following generations? Sorry, if this sounds stupid.

The non specialty stats will always be the average of the parents'. 

If for example the dam has 45 stats and the sire has 15 than the foal will have 30.

It can be bred down a bit by carefully pairing your breeding pairs, but eventually you'll just end up with the same average over and over. 

Horses with really low non-specialty stats are from before the recode. Before the recode we had a different breeding formula that allowed us to really breed down non specialty stats but that is no longer possible.

Several players have asked to alter the breeding formula because of this, but Abbey isn't planning on doing that soon, unfortunately.
