Some of my horses died of old age last night, and when I click on them in my former horses it gives me the option to delete records. What does that do?

it deletes them from the game and from all pedigrees that they exist on, instead of the parents name it will just say DECEASED. honestly for my game play i will not buy any horses who have deleted horses in their pedigree so idk if there are any benefits/cons to deleting a horse :I
