Coat applicator, haaaalp

I think I made a somewhat expensive mistake....

I found a cool Gypsy mare in the RC with good confo, and decided to scoop her up. 
Well, then I decided I wanted to change her coat color. I purchased the coat applicator from the credit shop, picked her to apply it to, and selected "Seal Brown"(could have been seal bay.... I can doubl check). 


I went to check her out and she's still all white. I'm confused? Please explain this to me!

white (W+) is not a color, but rather a marking that covers up the whole coat. to remove it, you have to use a marking applicator. 

edit: she is seal brown underneath, as her genes show, but the white marking covers it up.

Purchased marking applicator and she's still white. 

What steps would you take to remove the W+? 
Sorry, my Trakehners are so easy. At this point I almost could have made a custom Gypsy lol -.-

I have never used an applicator but from what I understand about genetics and EV coding, the marking applicator should have worked. Can you take a screenshot of the marking applicator "page"? (If you have another one...)

that's odd; that the marking applicator didn't work. when you used it, what exactly did you select for her markings?

I think I selected white in order to get rid of it?

Ah yes! By selecting white I believe you just made her white again! If I were you I would pick a subtle marking like Rabicano that won't take much away from the beauty of seal brown!

did you select the gene ++, because that's no white; I'm pretty sure if you picked white, that it just reapplied the marking she already had. I would suggest picking something else, another marking, and that should get rid of the white.

Actually Rabicano won't fix it since it can technically be white AND Rabicano!

North, I think picking rabicano would remove the white, since the gene picked would either be Rbrb or RbRb, not Rbrb/RbRb and W+/WW. though, I might be mistaken, that's just my understanding.

True, Ilsa - but she has alread spent so many credits on applicators I don't want to give her bad advice and have her have a White Rabicano Seal Brown horse...lol.

using a marking applicator "wipes out" any pre-exisiting white markings on a horse. I found that out with i tried to add rabicano to my homozygous splash homozygous roan, and ended up with a horse that was only rabicano D:

there's actually a suggestion to change the way applicators work because of that particular quirk.
by choosing a pattern other than white, you'll erase the white and add whatever other pattern you're choosing.

I have one applicator left.... does anyone think it's possible for her to be a seal brown with this applicator? If anyone is super confident, I'll send her over with the applicator and some monies for your trouble......

with the marking applicator, I'm 99% sure she'll stay seal brown underneath, and just have her marking changed. you just have to pick another marking (not white) and the white should go away.
