Just wondering how people feel about a small change to the art and greying process that would involve some of the early signs of grey showing up from birth.

The current system has horses showing only their normal base colour in both their image and colour name until they're three years old, after which they start greying out, with the coat starting to lighten uniformly.

I'm proposing that for the 0-3 year period a horse with grey shows little things like grey goggles, and possibly a little bit of lightening on the face, and maybe some other subtle signs of grey that turn up before the overall coat starts to lighten. The colour name should also get "(Greying)" added to the end, like the older grey horses. From 3 years onwards the greying system would be the same as it is now.

Also, a reminder that Abbey has requested people to not consider art or finances when judging suggestions, so please vote for this based on whether or not you'd like to see it happen, and leave art/cost concerns to Abbey. ;)

I don't think it would be too bad, but I don't want too much grey showing in the beginning so I can enjoy the color while it lasts. If its just tiny signs, then I'll support!

I support this, but I think the color name change should be added for fully grayed out horses too. Like...

foal: blah blah blah (graying) [would show tiny signs]
time period when the color changes slowly: blah blah blah (graying) [would show the signs currently in place]
fully grayed out: blah blah blah (grayed) [would be solid gray, like they are now]

I know my little tidbit was like it's own suggestion, but it had to do with gray, so...

@RemRem
Yes, I'm only talking about tiny signs. :) The overall base colour will still be visible. Here's an example that shows a greying horse at foal, yearling and 3 year old stages. In the first he has just a hint of grey around the eyes, in the second the hair on the face has started to lighten, and finally in the third his coat has just started to lighten.

@Raptorfang
Your suggestion concerns older horses and colour names, and is sufficiently different to this one that I would suggest making a new suggestion about it so that people can vote on it separately. It'll get a bit lost here.

tbqh I preferred when the color just said "grey" right away instead of "greying". I know there were a lot of new players that always had questions as to why their horse was a different color with the staging of the art, but if that was at the top of the genetics guide and a link was included in the tutorial for new players to the genetics guide, I think that would have solved the problem.

Including this int he foal art would be a neat feature, too.

I think this is a great idea especially since I had foals born in my barn with no idea they would grey until the process started.
