A few questions

Heya guys,

I'm kinda new here, and there are a few things I don't understand yet.
I'm in level 3 now. What is the fastest way to level up? What I'm doing now is entering my horses for shows. But that's it. I don't know what to do more XD.

Then, at my horses page, I can see some of them have points. What are points? What can I do with them?
And some of my horses are 'N1' and one is 'L1'. How do i get my horses for higher levels in shows? Just training and entering shows?

(Sorry for my bad English, I'm Dutch)

Welcome to EV.

Showing is one of the best ways to gain the experience to level up. If your horses aren't placing, you can also get experience by entering the horses in the riding school. Just keep at it, and you'll keep leveling up!

Points used to be more important, back before stats. Now they're just a nice number to look at. :)

N1 means novice 1, while L1 means local 1. These are different showing levels, and they are based on stats. The higher your horses's stats, the higher their showing level. Most players recommend giving horses treats that increase the discipline the horse is set to. This will help the horses win shows.

Stats can be gained by treats, showing (not guarenteed), the riding schools, and training.

To gain stats by showing, you must enter your horses in shows with five or more entries, and they must place first, second, or third. Each place in the top three will get 0-3 stat points.

Levels (or "Grades - Novice 3, Local 5, etc.) are based on the total number of stats your horse has. However, when it comes to determining who wins a show, only the "specialty stats" are counted. Each specialty (Western, Dressage) has two traits that are associated with that specialty. For example, Show Jumping's two traits are speed and agility. The higher the speed and agility stats, the better the horse will do at show jumping.

You want those two traits to have the highest stats possible, but you want to keep all the other traits as low as possible. For example, two horses could both have 200 total stats, but the one with 100 stats each in speed and agility will be better at jumping than the one with only 50 stats each, and the rest spread amongst the other traits. The two horses would be in the same grade (Novice 3) but the first horse will perform better.

To keep your stats in the specialty traits as much as possible, only use treats that raise those specific stats. Do not use hay cubes, sugar cubes, peppermints, or any other treat that raises random stats.

Besides showing and treats, other ways to raise your stats would be training and the riding school. With training, you gain two things. First is your Training Level. There are five levels. Each time you go up a level, your horse will have better "luck" in showing. There is a bit of a random element in determining who wins a show (though stats are still the most important) and a higher Training Level will give your horse a bit of an edge.

The other thing you get is Stat Boost Points. You gain one every time you train, and when you have ten, you can cash them in for a stat boost in your horse's specialty traits. The number of stats you gain depends on your Grade - Novice horses get the least, and Internationals get the most.

You also can gain experience points with training. You get the most points by training your horse in an arena that has the same specialty and grade as your horse.

You can also gain stats through entering your horse in riding schools. This is a good option for horses that are not showing well, either because they have a lot of stats outside of their specialty, or because they are at the bottom of their grade. (103 stats for a Novice 1, as opposed to 149 stats at the top of the grade.) You will have a chance of stat gain (not always, but usually you will gain a few stats) and also gain experience points and sometimes some items. You will earn a little money, too, if you enter your horse in someone else's riding school. It doesn't matter what grade your horse is, or how many stats it has. Any horse can gain stats through riding schools. However, if your horse is showing well, entering shows is still the fastest way to gain stats.
