This suggestion has been marked as "Added To The Game". Thank you, Ж wox, for the suggestion and to those of you who supported for making Equiverse better!

Title says it all really, but incase you want a more thorough explanation here I go

Basically, it'd be exactly like the current stud system, except of course for mares. You could have the mare for public or private brood, just like the current stud system, etc etc
Let's call the player putting their mare up for brood Player 1, and the person that will be receiving the foal Player 2.
Basically, I'd like for you to be able to put mares up for brood like you would a stallion for stud. The only difference being, when the foal is born it automatically gets transferred to the Player 2

As far as unborn horses taking up space on your horse limit, I suggest that Player 1 doesn't get the '+1 unborn foal' message, instead Player 2 will. This is because at no stage will the born foal be on Player 1's account.

I want this because I have far more stallions than mares, and I can't afford to buy 10+ mares for 75k and more. It would also add greater genetic diversity to the game.

If you don't support, please tell me why

EDITS:
@maple yep, I would want the option to go public/private as well
@UlyssesBlue I hadn't considered that, but I personally love @insomniaglet 's idea about reverting back to the old EV system for broodmares.
@insomniaglet Great idea! I like your idea about the 5-day limbo and reverting back to EV1 system, and the white stork thingy, though it's not the end of the world to me if you could see the foal's image.

No support. Too much overbreeding as it is.

Support. Lately I've been putting my 1100+ stat stallions for stud because I want more than one of their offspring floating around, but I can't do the same with my mares so.

Support! It's always annoying when I have a great stallion, but I don't have a good mare of the same breed, so I can't breed them unless I buy a good, but almost always very expensive, mare.

Don't you love it when you accidentally click away from the page you're on so you lose everything you've typed?

@Nebula I'll just quote Wicked (#103404) since I'm lazy :P
I don't like overbreeding, but I don't support this.

I don't think it's fair or reasonable to restrict players on what they can do with their horses, just because they don't play to our standards. If they want to breed their horses a bazillion times that's their business. If you don't like overbred lines, just don't buy horses that come from them.

Also, every game has its lower quality horses. No matter how many rules you try to place, that's always just going to be a thing. You're always going to have to weed through them to find the good ones.

@Pistol 1100+ stat? Holy guacamole, what is your secret?

@DJ Hoofbeats yasssss. I have so many more stallions than mares and I simply can't afford to buy a mare for each of them, and I like to keep each pairing monogamous to avoid inbreeding.

As long as it can be a similar system to stallions with public and private/approval only studding I'm for this.

I'd love for broodmares to happen, but I can see a few challenges in this. For example, what if a player locks up while their broodmare is pregnant. The owner of the foal could end up waiting a very long time for that foal they've paid for. What if the broodmare's owner is gone for months? Or even never comes back at all? The pre-paid foal just sits in limbo and its owner loses out. Maybe one solution is for the brood fee to get partially or completely refunded if the mare is pregnant for more than a certain length of real time, e.g. 1 month, although the person who paid the brood fee would still get the foal if/when it gets born.

Maybe broodmares could give birth instantly? (Like EV1) the owner of the broodmare would have a 7 day cool down rather than 2 after a foal birth so it would be like a normal pregnancy, but the foal would immediately be in the possession of the buyer (maybe held in a five-day limbo that could be removed using the Gestation Rush?). By this I mean the foal would be on the account of the buyer, they could see it and enjoy it's beauty but they could not feed or care for it, and it wouldn't age until five days had passed like it was still in utero. You could even have a different image for the foal (like a stork with a white sheet) so the foal wasn't actually visible and make revealing the genotype impossible until "birth".

I don't get the thing about it taking up space on the mare owner's acct tho. Like, they signed up to have their mare open for breedings, that could be just something that comes with it. I wouldn't mind, personally.

I really like this idea because I've been there too. You've got a great stallion, but no mare to breed with. I agree that approval would be a good idea for this as well, to make sure a mare isn't bred to a stallion the own wouldn't approve of, just as we do this with studs.
