Contributing to Member-Owned Groups??

So I've asked 2 very nice moderators about this; to no avail.
I've seen people have contribution points in member-owned groups, but no one in my group or me have any. I wonder how to earn contribution points?
Any and all help is great and appreciated!

I only know how to contribute to official clubs; I know for sure that I've seen contribution points in some member groups, as well!
