Monitor club activity

#57053 Posted on 2016-07-28 08:47:02

Is there any chance we can see when a club member was last active? There are 127 members in the Dutch Warmblood Club, for example, and only two active members.

Two. Active. Members.

I have literally given away money for people just responding to a newsletter entitled FREE MONEY.

I don't even make contests anymore because I had 1 entry in three contests my first month.

I only campaign for prez these days to manage the breed registry, which brings money into the club.

Now that I'm not quite so busy, I'll probably try a few more easy contests. I sent out a newsletter to survey what contests people would like to see. No responses yet.

I am suggesting that members that have not viewed the club page in something like 3-6 months be removed from the club, or something, just so that I can know how many current members we actually have.

If you have suggestions for me as a club president, please send me a message, don't post it here. I want to keep this post relevant to a proposed change to EV, please. I have tried everything I can think of.

Though it isn't something major we need, it'd be helpful for my club too. New members join my club all the time, but not all new members stay, so I just have some accounts sitting in my club that don't do anything. While it doesn't kill to have them there, it would be nice to be able to remove them.

I don't know if the viewing option is the best idea, because people did pay to become a member, however maybe if they haven't logged on at all without their account being locked after so much time than they get kicked out? I know a lot of people lock during the school months so they can only be active during their break, in which case they would be kicked out of clubs if it was everyone got kicked out after so many months. :)

I don't know how to respond to the news letters, to be honest. Maybe we need an in-club forum?

I support but not getting kicked out of the club. Maybe there should be a list of all members; a list of members active in the past 3 months and a list of members inactive in the past 3 months? This would help you to work out who may be interested in comps etc.

Also, (this would be only for the club president), you should be able to see WHO has viewed your newsletter.

Maybe we should also be able to comment on newsletters and have club polls (although the club polls thing is already a suggestion)?

I'm actually curious about other clubs and if they're having this problem as well. I know I am, though admittedly I have like two or three more people who participate in the stuff I put up. But it's still very... I dunno, disappointing, or something like that. I have no beef with players, I'm just sad that clubs are not of much interest to (what it seems like) most players. And I think it's the clubs that are the problem, because aside from registering horses, there's nothing to do except whatever the president sets up (contests or whatever). I admit I have trouble coming up with ideas that I think people would like, and when I do put up some of those ideas, no one cares, lol.

Anyway, what about if a player has been inactive (locked or not) for X period of time (3 months maybe?) they just automatically get dropped from the club (so you don't have to actually do anything, the game would do it for you). That, I think, might be better, because booting people manually *might* cause some issues if they are otherwise active players.

I have a bunch of ideas for improving clubs overall and making them more attractive to players, I just haven't gotten around to making a post about it (I keep forgetting, mostly...).

But yeah, I think if something like this were to be implemented it ought to automated - maybe the club prez could set the amount of time a player is inactive in the club if you want at least a portion of control over it?

Oh, Sonoma, to respond to a newsletter you have to write directly to the club prez (just click their name at the bottom of the newsletter). I think an in-club forum is an excellent idea, though maybe you should make your own post for it so it doesn't get overlooked in this one. :)

I agree with Wisteria. I also support but not getting kicked out of the club.

It would be useful to know which members are active on EV, but I don't support people getting kicked from a club. That would be pretty unfair to those who've just locked up for a holiday or similar.
