This one...I am working toward shutting down the backup, because I find it unnecessary with the new Equiverse, since I can lock individual divisions.


--Do you focus on stats, or colour, or conformation?

I'm HUGE on conformation...I can get stats through training, showing, and giving treats, but no two ways about it, I have to breed in order to get conformation. I do try to through new colors into the gene pool from time to time, but I'm particular about who gets bred to what. Still, I don't ignore stats, and I will only put stallions up for stud if they are 300 or more, and I will only breed my mares to stallions of the same or better standards, provided the conformation is reasonable.


--What disciplines are your gypsies in?

Driving, but I'm not above outbreeding to different disciplines to make more versatile foals, in case other people who buy them aren't interested in mine.


--Do you have any colour / genetics goals?

Color-wise, no. I just want a rainbow herd, at that point: all kinds of colors, and all kinds of markings. I am, however, striving to gain perfection or near-perfection in conformation. Hopefully I can reach the point where that goes hand in hand with high stats (which I do not consider a genetics goal).


--Anything else you consider relevant?

I often look for studs to freshen the line which will improve the stats but not destroy my work with the conformation.

Well, I guess I am slowly trying to redirect my herd towards breeding out most of the tobiano/overo genes and keeping solids and roans instead :D

Just as much diversity as possible. A small focus on markings.
