foal training chart check off

#267720 Posted on 2023-03-31 11:52:48

So when im trying to train all of my faols(which is normally a large clump), often times there are many different ones bred different days, so its hard to keep up with who has been trained on what so far. Ive been just typing in the public notes a list of what ive trained on so far, like so:

but often times, with having foals all at different ages, sometimes ill miss click/pick the wrong one and train it on the wrong thing.

I know not everyone really cares what they train their foals on, if it gets training for each category, but im very ocd about those things, and i just think it would be helpful to maybe have a chart or put like an arrow or something beside the thing you've already trained on? This may just be me and my ocd but ive been thinking about this for a while c:

thoughts?

I think it would be much easier if they just removed the ones we already trained in. It's a headache to click on droplist and scroll to the right training for every foal. Foal Training makes my laptop lag as well so it's an annoyance for me, tbh.

Ex:
If I completed the weaning for that specific foal, then the weaning will be not on the list the next day.

Hey yeah that's a great idea @Lucia! Ah-em, the example wise I MEAN!! Though we can't be sure if this was suggested already, I mean, there has been suggestions popping up and then being re-brought up through a comment, but I'm not gonna go and search for something when I'm already working on something else in the mean time..

I like this :D I always have my foal divisions sorted by age descended so the oldest are at the top, then go by how many days till they age.
I wouldn't care either way if there was a list of who did what when or if that option was just removed.
One issue I see with that option being removed is that there are only 6 options for yearlings, but 7 days. So probably just add play time for yearlings as well.

This is suggested here already.

The reason for multiple options is so that you can receive a bonus for varied training at the end of Foal Training. This bonus doesn't apply to single options/non-varied training and is supposed to make it more engaging than just rushing through. So I really doubt there will be any changes to the list itself.

Players seem to make the most of making a list or selecting the options by days remaining.

@Maple, so say you trained only lunging during the 1 year old period, would it give you only a certain amount vs if you had done all the training? Like different amount of stats? Just trying to better understand :)

Yep, varied training gives you bonus foal stats. So just training all in 1 selection will gain you a set amount.

And if you don't imprint, you get less stats, right? So if you didn't imprint and just lunged and weaned a horse, it'd get less stats than a horse that got imprinted and varied training

@Maple, That makes more sense, thank you!

@Kali, i dont think ive had that happen before, or noticed if i did miss it. Im going to have to take a handful of foals and train them different and see the end results

this article from several years ago says imprinting has a greater effect, though it could've been changed at some point i still make it a point to do imprinting whenever i can

Not necessary, you have the age of the foal and a list of choices, just work your way down the list.

I've never had a problem with where any given foal is in training.
You look at how many days remain for that age and just go down the list!
Newborn: Imprint
6 days: Halter
5 days: Handle
4 days: Lead
3 days: Wean
2 days: Commands
1 day: Play!
Yearling is a bit harder as you have 6 choices and 7 days. I Lounge on days 7 and 1.
