Frozen Semen Straws at Vet/Clinic

#264452 Posted on 2022-12-28 14:23:29

IRL we can get frozen semen straws for the stallions we own, so that if the stallion is turned into a gelding or
maybe dies (eventually) LOL ;) owners can still use the straws or sell them.

This could be a {special item} for stallion owners. They can do this at the vet/clinic for credits, so their stallion can jump a (fake horse) to catch the semen.

But, before stallion owners do this, they need to know if their stallions semen is OK or not.
The stallion owner can let the vet/clinic do a check on the semen (before they buy credits), if it will be accepted or a refuse of the quality of the semen. This way they can avoid paying for credits!
This only means, that the stallion can not have frozen semen straws, but can still do LIVE breeding as normal.

The owner of the stallion needs to leave the semen straws in storage at the clinic for x amount EV$ per day/week.
If the owner of the straws is not on time paying for storage, the semen will be automatically destroyed after 1 month. (or something, just an idea;)
The owner of the stallion can also put the semen straws up for sale, then the new owner can inseminate their mare at the clinic or pay for the storage at the clinic, if they want to wait a while with breeding.

Semen straws will only be usable up until 52 years (52 weeks). After that time the semen is dead and will be destroyed by the clinic automatically.

If a mare owner decides to use frozen semen, they have the chance of getting higher stats/conformation on their foals than
they normally would if they breed LIVE.

BUT...There can also be a catch to all this for the mare owners.

Frozen semen is never only semen and has to be mixed with special liquid to keep it from dying before insemination or freezing it.
That means that mare owners can to a test at the clinic before hand or....take a risk of not becoming pregnant or maybe lose the foal.

I can go on and on about this and make it as crazy as you want.

JUST...Give me your 2 cents!! ;)

I do support the Sperm/Egg Bank concept.

However, I do not support a few things you mentioned:

- I do not agree that Sperm/Egg Revival should cost Credits. We have plenty of EVC sinks in the game but we need more EVD sinks. I think Sperm/Egg Revival should be charged at a flat rate of EVD, not EVC.

- Deadline on Storage. I also do not support this. The main reason why I want sperm/egg is so I can retire my horses that are unpaired. I have several good horses with odd conformation ranges that are difficult to pair with. I don't like that I had to keep them locked until I find the right breeding partner for them. My goal is to take advantage of the egg/sperm banks for the unpaired horses and allow them to retire, freeing up some space. I want to be able to store my egg/sperm infinitely without any concerns. It will allow me plenty of time to find the right horse to breed with.
We also don't even allow to do anything about inactive accounts, and the entire game is designed with the mind that players can come and go. If we allow inactive accounts, we cannot set a time limit on storage as it goes against EV's stance on leaving inactive accounts untouched.

- I am also against any form of failure to breed. We do not have a fertility concept in the game and it's generally unsupported here from what I've seen.  The same thing should be applied to sperm/egg. Personally, I would never use the sperm/egg if there's a risk of not succeeding. I rather just keep my horse locked instead of risking possibly ending the bloodline for good because the game algorithms decided to screw me over. It's just not worth the money, risk, and time.

Ok Lucia, it was all just a harmless idea. Thank you for your input.

Sorry about this guys, I looked for a similar topic before I posted this..could not find it.
Thank you horsegirl!

I played a game that had this feature and it was very popular. But yes, if they want to import
this kind of feature..they will decide how it will work, I'm just giving an idea.
