Hay cubes and Sugar cubes- why?

#263165 Posted on 2022-12-06 20:28:52

This is a question for everyone who gives their horses hay or sugar cubes, or any other treat that raises random stats.
Why? Shouldn't you not do that bc it'll likely raise their NSS? I just feel like it isn't... safe I guess. Is it just cheaper to regularly buy one type of treat than a whole bunch, or is it just easier when assigning treats?

ooh, but when they're young, doesn't it still affect NSS? maybe not enough to have a huge impact, but still :3

This topic explains how using cubes can be beneficial for showing by using the conversion method, look toward the bottom of the main post.

Most people will "cube" horses until about 3 years old, then convert and show. But some people have been known to cube and school the entirety of the horse's life and then convert to the desired discipline when they want to breed.

Conversion will move all gained stats to the specialty you select (not the base stats, which are the stats a horse has when it's born). Converting a horse for the first time costs 10k, any conversions after that cost 2 credits

^ exactly that. i just make sure to set their first specialty to what i DONT want it to be, then convert them to what i do. it will move all stats except base stats to the new specialty, really beneficial for EC horses

oooh, so it puts any addition NSS toward specialty stats :o That makes sense, but I can't afford to do that with my 26 foals :(
