Player Professions

#256087 Posted on 2022-04-07 21:35:02

My suggestion to implement is having a "profession"- this will help gain some money that isn't from showing/games/selling.

Each "profession" would have 5 levels, each that cost experience and time, but not money as the goal is to both supply money based on what a player charges and for others to spend money to use the player's "service" (so it isn't easily abused) here are the names I have and the percentages im suggesting to keep it balanced, I'm open to suggestions on them since I went for a non gender specific title for each:

trainee- This would have a 10% chance at the professions boost.
apprentice- This would have a 20% chance at the professions boost.
journeysmith- This would have a 30% chance at the professions boost.
craftsmith- This would have a 40% chance at the professions boost.
master tradesmith- This would have a 50% chance at the professions boost.

each level would require you to "restart" the time (so you cannot spam every time the cooldown came up and side accounts couldn't abuse it). and action component with the "master tradesmith" being unlockable after a full year of playing. So even if you do more "actions" than required it would still reset when you "level up" to your new profession.

Additionally, if you meet one requirement and not the other- for instance you meet the time requirement and not the action requirement, that would remain complete until you hit the action requirement

Professions:

-Groom:
a hidden showing boost to all horses that are cared for. (+20% luck (or higher chance at winning) for each show the horse that had been groomed is entered in. I would say this would be something that didn't utilize "autocare" that way it is still a manual process and horses would still benefit. A button can be located on anybody's horses page for the player with the "groom" profession. A groom can only groom a horse every 15 minutes. Instead of having a 5 minute cooldown, maybe do 4 horses every hour with a countdown on a greyed out button when the groom action is on cooldown.

trainee- 100 horses groomed AND two weeks in the profession.
apprentice- 500 horses groomed AND 1 month in the profession
journeysmith- 1000 horses groomed AND 2 months in the profession.
craftsmith- 10000 horses groomed AND 4 months in the profession.
master tradesmith- 25000 horses groomed AND 5 months in the profession.

-Trainer:
similar to showing and riding school, and would be another possibility to gain stats. +1 to each specialty stat (total of 2). A button can be located on anybody's horses page for the player with the "trainer" profession. A trainer can only train a horse once every 30 minutes. 12 horses every hour with a countdown on a greyed out button when the train action is on cooldown

trainee- 50 horses trained AND two weeks in the profession.
apprentice- 100 horses trained AND 1 month in the profession
journeysmith- 500 horses trained AND 2 months in the profession.
craftsmith- 5000 horses trained AND 4 months in the profession.
master tradesmith- 15000 trained AND 5 months in the profession.

-Breeder:
somebody that can drop down NSS. MUST be done prior to the horse being 2 years old and can only be done once in a horses lifetime. -1 to one of the NSS stats. A button and drop down can be located on anybody's foal page for the player with the "breeder" profession to select that stat for the chance of lowering it. a Breeder can only do this once an hour with a countdown on a greyed out button when the breeder action is on cooldown.

trainee- 25 horses bred AND two weeks in the profession.
apprentice- 50 horses bred AND 1 month in the profession
journeysmith- 250 horses bred AND 2 months in the profession.
craftsmith- 2500 horses bred AND 4 months in the profession.
master tradesmith- 7500 bred AND 5 months in the profession.

-Geneticist:
somebody that can raise conformation. MUST be done prior to the horse being 2 years old and can only be done once in a horses lifetime. +5% to one of the conformation categories. A button and drop down can be located on anybody's foal page for the player with the "geneticist" profession to select the category for the chance of raising it. a geneticist  can only do this once an hour with a countdown on a greyed out button when the geneticist action is on cooldown.

trainee- 25 horses analyzed AND two weeks in the profession.
apprentice- 50 horses analyzed AND 1 month in the profession
journeysmith- 250 horses analyzed AND 2 months in the profession.
craftsmith- 2500 horses analyzed AND 4 months in the profession.
master tradesmith- 7500 analyzed AND 5 months in the profession.

-Wrangler:
Person who encounters lower NSS foundations. this would be a separate tab on the "equine center" page that gives the profession of "Wrangler" an extra 25 horses a week and the boost would only work on this tab. The "wrangler" can select a favored "discipline" like the "create a horse" page and the horse would have a chance at having a NSS spread of selected discipline of less than 55. Since this is based off how horses are created in the game, it would have the same cooldown of a week.

trainee- 25 horses wrangled AND two weeks in the profession.
apprentice- 50 horses wrangled AND 1 month in the profession
journeysmith- 100 horses wrangled AND 2 months in the profession.
craftsmith- 200 horses wrangled AND 4 months in the profession.
master tradesmith- 400 wrangled AND 5 months in the profession.

-Scout:
Person who encounters desired coloration. this would be a separate tab on the "equine center" page that gives the profession of "Scout" an extra 25 horses a week and the boost would only work on this tab. The "scout" can select a favored "color" and marking (that would be based on the breed selected)  like the "create a horse" page and the horse would have a chance at having that coloration and marking. Since this is based off how horses are created in the game, it would have the same cooldown of a week.

trainee- 25 horses scouted AND two weeks in the profession.
apprentice- 50 horses scouted AND 1 month in the profession
journeysmith- 100 horses scouted AND 2 months in the profession.
craftsmith- 200 horses scouted AND 4 months in the profession.
master tradesmith- 400 scouted AND 5 months in the profession.

I believe this idea gives an opportunity for players that cannot spend real money to use some of the benefits with a limit. Additionally, it grows the economy more and should increase spending. It also helps people with smaller herds because they have an opportunity to have stronger statted horses without needing a ton of money to buy horses and extend their horse limit.

The only thing im unsure of is having an item that a boost to the percentage. I know that europe has banned a lot of percentage based items due to gambling. What could be an item is maybe something like a tonic that cuts the cooldown in half for a day.

Im open to other suggestions and tweaks to it from everybody else and can edit my post to include it if people decide it works better than what I wrote.

I must say, it's a detailed, well-thought, great idea, which I really would like to be implemented. It would give a whole new aspect to the game while supporting the already-existing parts. I love this concept, definitely support!

Edit: It would be also good to be able to 'hire' players with different professions to help with your horses. Maybe something similar to a training center... When you choose a profession for yourself, you get a center where others can take their horses and buy your service (with a limit following the level you are at your professional training).
After search, the system offers you the centers which are connected to active players, and you can send your horse to the professional to their center. After (I don't know) 1-3 days, you could cancel the service, if the player became inactive in the meantime and didn't do the service for your horses, so you don't lose valuable possibility to lower NSS or get confo boost for your foals for example.

I LOVE this idea, (don't have anything to add) but I believe this is something that would benefit players and make the game even better.

Seems like fun, but I just think it'd be hard (lol I say this a lot with bigger suggestions). I do like the idea though!
