Breeding Spreadsheet

#243165 Posted on 2021-07-09 07:14:50

Hi hi friends!

I am looking to make spreadsheets for breeding my pons.. and was wondering..

How do you set yours up? What does it look like? What does it have on it?

I am trying to get a basic idea of what I should do for it.

Thank you! :D

It depends on what you want to accomplish with your breeding spreadsheet. Some people use them for tracking lines, others for stat gain or tracking and most probably for pairing. Somewhere on my external hard drive I have sheets that show tracking stats and points for the 5dos Shetland Ponies to test gain from them.

Most frequently I use a sheet for pairing when I have a large amount of horses to pair in a group, less than 10 is pretty simple but I have some 40s and more that get a little crinkly and hard to manage as open tabs. I pair mostly by overall stats and specific conformation away from poors mixed with generation and nss and sometimes look at color so my spreadsheet has the following information on it: horse name/ID, gender, main modifiers genotype, total stats, nss, nss per area, Overall Conformation, individual stat conformation, and generational lineage. sample below
I use the final column(not pictured) with pair numbers to match horses and then update their notes. Many people use pair ids in the name, which also works well.
