$2.5 million EVD New Year Eve Giveaway

#232230 Posted on 2020-12-29 07:39:45

So you want a chance to be $2.5 million EVD the richer come the midnight fireworks on New Years Eve?? Well ok maybe no fireworks this year due to covid but you get the idea!

Anyway for your chance to win this prize simply tell me your New Years Resolution. Whichever one I like best/am most inspired by, takes the prize :)

On the off chance there are those who are too young to know what on earth a NY Resolution is; it's something you intend doing next year for example.... go on a diet is a popular one or learn a new language etc. But don't worry if you don't keep your resolution no one really does!

To kick off mine is this:-

Spend less money on fancy party shoes because 1) I have enough already 2) I haven't worn a single pair once this year so therefore I'm not going anywhere to need them 3) I can spend the money on something more important 4) donate it to a worthwhile local charity.

You don't need to provide reasons why - I just did it because that was my thought process behind the statement in case anyone was interested!

Thanks for hosting this! My New Years Resolution for 2021 is to, of course, diet and exercise! I would also like to make more time to spend with my horse.

My New Year resolution is:

Go out more ! To museums, restaurants, theaters, shows !

I was always so super reluctant to go out anywhere and these days I catch myself thinking of how nice it would be to go out and appreciate all those places which were always on offer around me and which I shunned so fervently !
It was fine not to go when it felt like my own choice but now that I actually cannot go, I don't like it - ha, ha, human nature !

My new year's resolution is to continue working as a crisis counselor for CrisisTextline, which I've been doing for two years now. I challenged myself to take 40 hours this year, and I've almost gotten that down, so in 2021 I'm striving to complete 80 hours -- which means I need to be in a good mental space and continue to care for myself to I can help others :)

Thanks so much! And happy New Years!

My New Year’s resolution is to really work with my horses more. I got a lot of things for them for Christmas and I really want to use it! One of them is blind, and my other horse we just got with in the last month so I I’m super excited to see her full potential! Another resolution is to work on my social media’s more; since this year with my extra time I’ve made a blog, a book club, and started a YouTube channel.

Thanks for sponsoring this! Mainly because it really made me think about what I want to accomplish in 2021.

I want to be more confident and stand up for myself. Too often I am the "yes" girl - breaking my back to please those who wouldn't do the same in return. One of my family members is very demanding and selfish, yet I hate confrontation so I usually just go along with it in order to keep the peace. But I really, really want to say no more. While the virus has been awful most of the time, it has also given me an opportunity to say yes to myself and do things that are good for my mental health. Despite living in a pandemic, I feel mentally strong and am blessed to be able to say that (not that I don't have my moments - we all do in these times) and hoping that continues to carry on and I continue to put myself first.

Other then that I want to ride more - I have confidence issues there that I need to work through. And if I could complete a novel that'd be fabulous too. ♥

Thanks for hosting this!

My new year's resolution is to get out more and hopefully make some new friends and see new places (I let my social anxiety get the best of me usually sadly), and also try to distance myself from some very toxic people in my life.

Oh my goodness these were all soooo good I have had a difficult time choosing one so while there will be a winner I am also sending everyone else $250k for participating :)

I absolutely have been inspired to do more once things go back to normal (not that i wasn't a social butterfly because our gang would go to at least 1-2 things a month like local festivals & the theatre etc) so it was LENKA who takes the main prize! For reminding me I have a life to get back too!!

@ TidewaterCreek - I also have to applaud your counselor work as I have also just started as a volunteer outreach worker for elderly Ex service personnel and I am determined to give back more in 2021 instead of just being unintentionally selfish :)

@Midnight Outlaw - don't be too hard on yourself. Anxiety is difficult to manage in whichever form it takes. Take small steps and you can get there in time.

@Zest - good for you losing weight in a lockdown. Everyone I know put it on!

@Bellzabuls- I too was that kind of person. Learning to say no to others genuinely changed my life. Hang in there. It isn't wrong to put yourself first x

To everyone thanks for taking part. I'm sending the prizes now

Thank you, Fabel, for organising this because it gave me a chance to ponder on the subject !

I somehow find it extremely difficult to actually say "happy new year" but I do wish you all, all the best for the coming time !

@Lenka - tbh I don't feel like saying "happy new year" either because there's still a long road ahead (I'm personally working to a 3year time scale with this virus duration in my head so almost at halfway!) before anyone approaches any kind of normality & all I have done is say "this time last year we were doing...." and insert whatever activities/events we were at.

In general I think most have done nothing but think about stuff in more detail because we have had the chance to pause from our busy distracting lives and just stop and think throughout 2020 but onwards and upwards. It cannot last forever that much is guaranteed. Guess we just have to wait it out but do stay strong. You will get there x

Thank you so much @Fabelhaft!!!

It sounds like you're truly going after a noble volunteer opportunity, too -- I love the quip about being unintentionally selfish -- that's so gorgeous and true. Spending your free time with giving it to others is brilliant, and I'm so proud of you for making that decision for yourself in 2021!!!
