Low NS Stats

#186807 Posted on 2018-08-26 06:37:19

I came back from a long hiatus and now all I see are people looking for low non spec stats and high spec stats. Can someone tell me what constitutes low stats and why that is important?

Thanks in advance!

Low non-specialty stats are foundation level (45-65) or lower (usually a precode horse). Low non-speciality stats gives you the best chance for winning shows, hence their importance for showing breeders. It used to be the lower the better but since the scoring system was changed, anything under 70 are most likely to place in shows (instead of the under 10ns dominating shows).

How should i calculate non spec stats? Should i look at base stats only, or should i consider what they currently have?
I’m trying to keep track of this in my horse’s public notes, but i’m confused on the best way to do so.

Calculation should be based on a horse's current stats, not the base stats.   :)

There is a foal calculator here that makes things easier.

Edit: Though if you mean working out how many ns your horse has, you total the three non-speciality stats together in your current stats. Same for working out base ns stats, generally they don't change if the horse has been bred without the influence of all stat treats. Knowing the total of the base ns stats and the current ns is useful for calculating foal results and seeing if a horse is worth converting.

This is why, for optimal results when breeding strictly for stats, you'd feed your foal peppermints or hay cubes/sugar cubes and once they reach 3 yrs of age do NOT train them in the specialization you really want but literally in any other and continue feeding them those treats and training them in stats that are fitting the specialization you chose at 3 yrs up until you actually want to breed with that horse. Then and only then you would convert the specialization (costs only 10k) and all those trained stats, all the gained bizarro-stats from the treats that randomly increase some stats all get realigned to the proper specialization you actually want (don't forget to then change your treats from peppermints/hay/sugar to the proper ones, too).

How does one convert a horse's specialty? Is there a button on the horse's page, and do you have to be at a certain level to do it?

@SummerBreeze1, you go to the Training Center, which is under the "town" tab.

The ability to convert a horse's discipline will be an option next to the default "training horses."
