Does anyone else want to live on a farm?

#177981 Posted on 2018-07-06 17:44:20

I would LOVE to live on my own farm. I would become a crazy animal lady, like an animal hoarder, but I'd take good care of my animals. I would have cattle, sheep, goats, sheep, chickens, TONS of horses, dogs and cats. I would have tons of rescue animals and my farm would have massive pastures for the animals to run around and just be animals. I just get so excited at the thought of living on my own farm and the idea of being able to wake up, look outside my window and see all of my animals just chillin.

What about you guys? What kinds of animals would you have? Would you give your farm a fun name?

Yessssss!!!!!!!! I’m planning on having a working cattle and horse ranch when I’m older, complete with dogs, cats, snakes, birds, and all sorts of animals, haha. We do currently live on a funny farm, with my three mares, 2 dogs, 6 cats, and chickens, lol. And I would definitely give it a cool name, lol. XD

I actually live on a farm in the middle of South Dakota and lemme tell you, it is amazing. It is quiet (except for our pigs always squealing), you have lots of privacy, your animals can roam, etc. I will NEVER live in town again XD

I've lived on a farm and LOVED it. A mustang rescue/sanctuary to be exact. Hundreds of acres far away from the nearest town. Nothing like hearing the horses out your window at night and seeing them up on the mountain in the mornings. Pretty incredible.

Definitely would love to have something like that in my future. Ideally, it would be off-grid, permaculture/sustainable living, with all kinds of animals. I would love to have it as an education type place, and be able to rescue animals and do work with people who maybe have had a rough past but want to put the effort into making themselves better. Basically a safe haven for society's rejects, both animal and human.

I live on a 60 goat and 11 sheep "ranch" in Pennsylvania. It is awesome being able to handle your own animals and not have to watch other people do it. But I will admit that the goats start screaming whenever you come out... lol. It's kinda annoying.

My parents own a 3 acre patch of good land that we call "*insert last name here* Homestead". :)

We have 9 chickens (all mine), two dogs (picking up our Great Pyrenees Puppy tomorrow), two cats, and one Betta fish. :) My father has a small garden this year, gave his 1/2 acre garden a rest, will till it up with fertilizer, and mulch soon. I love our place and most likely will buy my brother's share when our parents pass away (hopefully not for another 50+ years!). ♥

I would love to, but I'm not sure I could keep up with it. I'm super lazy rofl. I couldn't even get my 8x4 foot garden up this year... To be fair, I have infant twins, but still. :o

I plan to move into a ranch when I finish college! I'm an introvert so the "isolation" is perfect and I would finally be able to own a horse (plus more obviously)! I also want to do horse riding lessons and allow volunteers to help and possibly do a hayrides and trial riding for events :)

Not exactly a farm or ranch. I just graduated, I'm zootechnician, horse physiotherapist and farm animal nutritional counselor (horses, cattle, swines and poultry). My biggest goal is to own equine center, where I would be a riding trainer and horse trainer. I want to breed show jumpers, mostly with Polish warmblood breeds and some crossbreeds. Polish horses were pretty amazing before WWII, after war that genetic potential was lost, I would love to restore it at least partly :)

I lived on a little farmette I guess you could call it as a teenager. All we had was chickens, horses, and our 14 dogs lol. The idea of living on a farm again is really nice but I've recently made the decision that I don't want to buy a house. Once my kids are out on their own(15+ years) I want to have a small 2 bedroom duplex where we could have one cat and one dog and that's it. I'm just tired of always cleaning. So I want LESS.

I just want chickens. Like, 20+ chickens. It's a family tradition to do hay/cows, but I just want chickens. :)

Chickens are easypeasylemonysqueasy and I adore them.

(and doggies. :3)

I actually do live in one. This house is very old, there used to be an old "navetta" (place for cows) which I couldn't find a translation to, but had to take it down because eventually it would have broken down anyways. Weve never had any farm animals here but perhaps in the future..
I love this place and it's never going to stop being a home to me. Only under 30-50 people live in this village, the nearest stores are over 10 kilometers far and it is just so quiet and lovely. No cars passing by, no people talking all the time, complete silence expect the birds singing and cows mooing (their pasture is near us).
