Arab Horse colourations

#174926 Posted on 2018-06-14 05:07:41

Please can someone look at 2 of my horses and tell me a better description of their colour other than chestnut or bay
i like their colouring and think they will be hard to replicate but want to breed for those colours anyway.
the names of the horses are
1. Soul Stealer
2. Soul of Destruction
Thanks for your time and the info

Soul Stealer is a chestnut with most of his body color hidden by his sabino markings. he is homozygous for sabino, meaning he has two copies of sabino and will always pass one copy to his foals. if you want foals to look like him, you'll need to breed him to mares that have at least one copy of sabino and are capable of producing chestnut foals. He also carries flaxen, meaning he will pass the flaxen gene 50% of the time and can potentially produce flaxen foals if paired with a mare that also has at least one flaxen gene ad can have chestnut foals. He also is homozygous rabicano which usually changes the mane and tail color slightly, but for some reason his artwork isn't showing that correctly. you should but in a bug report for that so you can get it corrected!

Soul of Destruction is also homozygous sabino, but on a bay base rather than chestnut. if you want foals to look like him, you'll need to breed him to mares that have at least one copy of sabino and are capable of producing bay foals. He is also flaxen, but since he is not chestnut it doesn't show on his coat. this means he will always pass down a copy of flaxen to his foals, and can potentially have flaxen foals if paired with a mare that will produce chestnut foals and who also has at least one copy of flaxen.

I hope that's the type of description you meant!
let me know if i need to clarify anything or you have more questions :)
