Mega show issue

#14979 Posted on 2016-03-04 15:39:58

Is it correct that only horses registered with their appropriate breed club are supposed to be able to enter the mega shows (for their breed only)? If it is, then it isn't working correctly. If it isn't, then it really needs to be (IMO anyway).

In going through the Andalusian Club Mega show results, I'm seeing horses that are not only not registered with the club, but aren't even Andalusians, who beat out actual registered Andalusians. And it ticked me off a bit (sorry, I know it's just a game, and it's not like I'm all RAEGHAET or anything, but irritated all the same - I don't feel it's fair to club members).

Can someone clarify for me whether this is a bug or if it's intentional? If intentional I'll just mosey over on to the suggestions board instead.

(alternate thought: if people are using autoshow, is it possible these non-Andalusian horses ended up in the Mega show this way? I'm assuming this happened across all Mega shows, though I haven't had a chance to check any others).

I'll go be un-irritated now. lol :D

ETA: I see that this did in fact happen across other Mega shows. :/

Just to mention, club shows can take unlimited entries, so there is no "beating out" registered horses.

Club shows are not supposed to just be for registered horses to the club, they are intended as fundraisers and advertising for shows, and also to give all horses - not just registered horses, which would be a bit unfair given some of the criteria that might be required to register a horse - the chance to enter a club show and get extra money, points, and experience.

Re: fundraisers - yes, there is a bank for clubs, they are currently earning money, it is hidden at the moment and I am intending on adding it in over the coming week.

Thanks. What I meant by 'beating out' was that other breeds had won over Andalusians (speaking only of the Andalusian club show) - are the shows not supposed to be breed-specific? I do understand not having to be registered with the club, and that isn't really much of a big deal. But any breed can enter any other breed's show? In my mind that seems like it defeats the purpose of a club show (fundraising aside, which I am glad to hear is happening).

Just noticed today that this is what it says above the spot where you create the Mega show [emphasis mine]:

"Clubs can create 1 Mega Show per week. A Mega Show contains classes for ALL disciplines and grades in the game. The minimum entry fee is $20, and the maximum entry fee is $150. Only horses which belong to the club can enter the club's shows."

? Wouldn't they have to be registered to 'belong' to the club? If it's supposed to say 'members' rather than 'horses', then I should say I've been able to enter club shows held by clubs I am not a member of.

Also you mentioned club classes are supposed to take unlimited entries, but that doesn't seem to be working right either, which I only noticed by searching (either this or the search isn't working correctly). Just as an example, say I have an L5 racing horse, so I search for L5 racing shows - a couple of days ago, depending on the level being searched, a varying number of club show results would appear. So, in this example, say nothing would appear for Club X at this level, but search again for L4 instead and the class for it in Club X's show would turn up (is this making sense? I'm basically saying that club classes do indeed appear to be 'filling' and not appearing when searched for).

Interesting, I must have changed my train of thought halfway through making shows - I believe it would be better to allow outside entries to the shows, to allow for bigger potential prizes from entering them (horses already get double EXP and points from showing, as well as the larger fees creating larger 1st, 2nd and 3rd placements).

I'll remove that text that states it should be only horses who are registered. As for the clubs, registration isn't strictly limited to that particular breed - it's down to the president to accept/deny - they may want to be inclusive and allow other breeds that were formed from that specific breed (e.g. Arabian Club allowing Thoroughbreds to register).

If everyone would prefer I limit breed registrations to only that single breed, then I think another suggestion topic would be needed to try and gauge the support.
