R.I.P Truman

#115322 Posted on 2017-07-23 17:40:58

My dog 11 year old puggle Truman has been unwell for the past five days now, he started vomiting and refused to eat. We took him to the vet yesterday and he is being treated for pancreatitis and has been staying there overnight since then. He seemed a bit better this morning but the vet called and said that he threw up again about an hour later with a brown substance coming out. More than likely is dried blood which worries me deeply. Please keep him in your thoughts as i've had him since I was 7 and I can't bear the thought of not having him around.

UPDATE:

The vets did more x rays and a sonogram and found that it is very severe pancreatitis and that he has growths on his liver. They said he has about a 70% chance of puling out of the pancreatitis and a 50/50 chance that the growths are benign on his liver. They're going to try oxygen chamber treatment as well as increasing his medicine while putting a feeding tube down his nose. He will probably be there for at least two more days and we are going to try and go out to see him tomorrow.
Please continue to hope and pray for him, he's one of the best things to ever happen to me and I really, really don't want to lose him ♥

Thanks so much everyone ♥

I wish I had better news to share, but since he is not healing as fast as the vets like they took a biopsy of his liver and pancreas and should know at least one of the results by tomorrow. His lymph nodes have swelled a bit and he has a bit of fluid in his abdomen which has worried the vets a bit, however they are hoping that it might just be a response to everything that's been going on. He has received a teaspoon of food an hour through a feeding tube and he has been able to keep it down which is really awesome, we visited him last night and he was asking for tummy rubs and smiling at us even though he was a bit loopy on pain meds. My brother and I are gonna try and go up and see him and give him some chicken since the vets don't want to release him until he can eat and drink on his own without vomiting.

I cannot thank the members of this community enough. My heart is broken writing this, but sadly Truman crossed the rainbow bridge today. I held him as he took his final breaths, as his poor body just could not handle what was afflicting him. After a final biopsy came in it was discovered that he had advanced liver cancer, and that his stomach was no longer moving. It's been awful for the past week or so, because we had no idea what was happening, since most dogs can bounce back from pancreatitis after a few days or so, but unfortunately he just grew too weak, and the cancer took it's toll. Thank you so much for the kind words and prayers, thank you ♥ ♥ ♥
